Mark Kelly is the name missing from the headline

[-] lennybird@lemmy.world 48 points 1 week ago

Yeah how the fuck do they exclude, "NASA Astronaut, combat pilot, and current US Arizona Democratic Senator..."

[-] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

The fact that I knew it would be Mark Kelly is speaking volumes about the integrity (or lack thereof) of most astronauts :(

I agree with him, musk should climb into a rocket and be blasted into space (preferably towards the sun).

[-] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 11 points 1 week ago

Nah, too much fuel needed to get to the sun. Launching straight up and back down is fine. More akin to a missile, but with Elon on the tip as opposed to a warhead of any kind.

With our luck, he’d probably create some sort of weird, cataclysmic thingy.

On the other hand making him go extrasolar might piss off the aliens… I mean, we shouldn’t just dump our space trash, right?

[-] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

At this point I'd welcome our alien overlords.

I'm sure after they digest some of the garbage that spills from Musk they'll show some leniency. Or it will piss them off more that we didn't "handle" the problem sooner. Either way I'm sure it will be fine.

I know we aren't lucky enough for this to happen, but I would really savor watching Musk go the way of the OceanGate douchebag.

[-] FanciestPants@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

If he launched into space and accidentally crashed into his own orbiting Tesla, it would go a long way towards balancing the karmic scales.

Lol this is just like a repeat of those thai kids trapped in the cave...

Let's not idolize Buzz. He's an overreactive fucktard who endorsed Trump this election. The worst of all the Apollo 11 crew. Michael Collins was way cooler.

[-] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

That's all well and good. Musk still needs to get punched in the face.

[-] lennybird@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Fair enough.

[-] CooperHawkes@lemm.ee 9 points 1 week ago

Michael Collins supposedly said that had Neil and Buzz not survived landing or returning that he wasn’t going to come back either. Dude was made of something sorely missing in this world.

If not for all of the ozempic and other drug cocktails, Musk would have made a great shield for reentry.
