Hey everyone, there's a lot of you. You ever think maybe you can just troll them by none stop posting to all their subreddits. Hell the mods are like the same 20 people in over 5000 sub reddits. That's a weak point. See, because more than half of you fucks are like "Let me take time off work and i"lll show up in a street randomly, I"ll make this sign with sparkle power and we can like fight the man by standing and marching all day every day I'lll do that but I won't shit post that's crazy." But maybe shit posting is better because we can all see it and laugh and have fun but like when you're standing in a street in Cincinnati, unless it's shit posted we can't all see it. And usually the only people shit posting are fucking proud boys who show up to beat you all up because I mean let's be honest, they're blasting and cruising while we're all playing rimworld. Not to say that all people in the gym are like that, but just they adopted this weird subset in the gym and it works. So let's trade protesting in for shit posting or something. Just saying. Fucking Luigi them. Also go to the gym fuckers.
Just nuked my entire reddit account due to this blatant censorship. Hello Lemmy and lemm.ee it's nice to be here
Just switched to Lemmy for this exact reason! Got banned for god knows why and immediately deleted Reddit.
Everybody log into your reddit accounts and post "Luigi" everywhere you can.
The oligarchs are getting nervous. Good. I hope they are a scared. Fuck their platforms and their false backing of “free speech.”
I'm just going to latch onto the top comment...
An actual reddit admin posted this 2 days ago:
Today we are rolling out a new (sort of) enforcement action across the site. Historically, the only person actioned for posting violating content was the user who posted the content. The Reddit ecosystem relies on engaged users to downvote bad content and report potentially violative content. This not only minimizes the distribution of the bad content, but it also ensures that the bad content is more likely to be removed. On the other hand, upvoting bad or violating content interferes with this system.
So, starting today, users who, within a certain timeframe, upvote several pieces of content banned for violating our policies will begin to receive a warning. We have done this in the past for quarantined communities and found that it did help to reduce exposure to bad content, so we are experimenting with this sitewide. This will begin with users who are upvoting violent content, but we may consider expanding this in the future. In addition, while this is currently “warn only,” we will consider adding additional actions down the road.
We know that the culture of a community is not just what gets posted, but what is engaged with. Voting comes with responsibility. This will have no impact on the vast majority of users as most already downvote or report abusive content. It is everyone’s collective responsibility to ensure that our ecosystem is healthy and that there is no tolerance for abuse on the site.
This was the only thing left reddit had going for itself: that users can influence the algorithm with their votes.

As someone who switched to feddit just a few days ago I can say this has been building up. Small things like deciding which comments get visibility, phasing out old.reddit, doing nothing about bots, introducing bot/karmafarma-friendly mechanisms, an uptick in pro-MAGA posts/comments as well as disinfo bots ... but still, this feels like an uncharacteristically large step.
they ban for upvoting "eat the rich" too.
yet reddit admins never had a problem with thedonalds posters litteraly saying people should be shot and other violent rhetoric for years. the key difference is this time the billionaire class got upset.
Welcome to Fascist America.
That’s why I’m here. Reddit started getting super censored so I was looking for an alternative and was directed here. It’s fucking ridiculous.
I received a permanent ban from Reddit last week, and I'm here for the same reason. And Reddit IS turning facist, as the rich close ranks. Fuck them. Any "spirited" criticism of Trump/Musk is characterized as encouraging violence and results in temporary bans, many of which I received, until recently when I apparently crossed a line which was too offensive (to the Mods). Therefore...
I've been over here for a year off and on, Lemmy ain't bad at all, could use some more resistance joining for sure.
For a brief few years we had communication platforms that could topple dictatorships but now here we are.
Yeah, now we have platforms that can topple democracies
You can now get in trouble for upvoting something. How absurd.
You can do that on Daily Kos too. I am permanently banned from commenting due to it. Those fuckers are too DNC oriented any way.
I just made the switch to lemm.ee so I think I might just “incite violence” and nuke my account. Good riddance.
I lost my 14 year old Reddit mod account. That modded a million plus subreddit. Because I made a joke that McConnell was close to death. Which he is. But they banned me before having to offer me stock options. Cunts.
We all know what’s gonna happen next. The Admins will lock out the remaining mod and take it over for being “unmoderated” and install their own puppets like nothing ever happened.
It's that whole "slash funding, complain it isn't working, privatize" approach on a smaller scale.
Reddit's strategy is to replace all users with AI bots rented from Elon.
That is literally my name 🤦🏻♂️
You can go by Green Mario
How dare you exist!?!
Is the word "guillotine" censored too? Asking for a friend.
Legit question -not tryna start shit/trigger intentionally: has this kind of reddit response ever happened before? Ive been on reddit for the past 10+ years, but as a comfy lurker. I remember "internal" reddit issues when the 3rd party thing was a thing.
(Quotes bc, from my POV as a lurker/casual user, the upset regarding reddit nixing 3rd party was too meta for me to really understand beyond "this is bad for reddit users")
I've gained enough info by casual usage-proxy to move over to lemme. But ngl, im not grasping the magnitude of why "reddit is bad now". I dont disagree, but i couldnt explain on my own to an outsider why i agree with that sentiment.
Obviously, censorship is bad mmmkay - I'm not questioning this. I have a gut feeling that making the switch and getting my global info from the fediverse is a good call. I just can't express why, and am requesting assistance from the community's exp in how I can express that. This seems like as good a topic ad any for a platform to discuss the matter.
If you talk about the Founding Fathers, specifically regarding treatises on violence. The Tree of Liberty was an autoban for at least a decade now.
I was there for 14 years. I never heard of some shit like that.
Reddit has been doing this shit for years. It's a big reason why I left. Spez (little piggie) was only the catalyst.
A few ban-happy,power tripping moderators did come over here, though. I don't have specifics on that, I just know I've seen them, and I've also been banned for some real dumb shit. I just stay away from those communities/instances.
I swear, there are some people that actively seek out parts of the internet to gain control of so they can push their agendas.
It's like they get physically distressed at the idea of people discussing things they don't want being discussed or holding views they don't want held.
This feels somewhat different because previously, generally speaking, the problematic subreddits (jailbait, fat people hate, etc) were pretty much isolated to that subreddit, so action could be taken to that subreddit without a big blast radius to the rest of the site. Also, for the most part, the issues were targeting marginalized people. Going after people in the comments of r/popculture for upvoting a comment about Luigi is nothing like previous controversies.
Reddit became a clownshow 2 years ago, how are people even still enjoying the place?
It's been limping for a while, but the momentum was huge to begin with. The niche subreddits still had good participation, not great, but good enough. These latest shenanigans might be the final tipping point, though.
It's still the only major community hub for loads of hobbies and such. As an example: the Magic the Gathering community here has 1300 members and almost no activity.
Spez getting a little nervous?
He's getting a little power boner.
Does anyone know how to reliably delete an entire reddit account, ideally editing over each comment as well? I did this before they closed off access to the API but upon checking months later, they had reverted all the changes so my account looks like it did before with everything visible.
Reddit has gone full fascist. Wow. Never thought I'd see the day.
I did. I left more than a year ago after I was permabanned for asking a question about whether someone would be banned if they asked certain things. Fuck those guys. I hear Digg is coming back though.
