We've come a long way. Once upon a time, It might've said "Linux is only free if you don't value your time."

[-] Johanno@feddit.org 1 points 4 weeks ago

It depends. I recommend windows when people say they don't want to put any time into learning a new os.

Or gaming. While I can game without any issues on Linux i sometimes have to tweak sth. Or have issues that I as a veteran can solve easily. I wouldn't recommend it to newcomers.

I recommend windows when people say they don't want to put any time into learning a new os.

Only if they've used Windows before, otherwise (IMO) Linux would be easier to learn when just starting out.

...first problem, google it, hello terminal.

Meanwhile in windows you have GUI guide, if you even meet a problem other than learn to read.

Fwiw, I still hear about it these days around me.

I guess it's still true if you want to get that perfect Arch install, but I'd imagine most people still saying that now had a bad experience many years ago and are unaware of how simple and smooth it can be nowadays.

Damn I remember hearing this a lot like 15 years ago.

At first I was like "When I open windows, I let cool air in helping my pc to cool off better, what do you mean it's less efficient?" Then it hit me, oooh the other windows.

That's basically a knock knock joke.
A dad joke is something said in conversations.

[-] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Someone didn't take dad joke night classes

[-] cm0002@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Dad jokes can come in many forms, it does not matter how, where or why it is said for that is not what makes a dad joke a dad joke. All that matters is that sweet sweet "Uggghhhh dad" you get from your kids/teens for that is where Dad jokes live and die.

Also the wife rolling her eyes

This is great, but I need more training... Please?

[-] cm0002@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

Didn't you receive your welcome kit in the mail after your SO had a confirmed pregnancy? Additional training opportunities are discussed on page 420 of the handbook

Dad jokes are anything that makes children giggle and wives roll their eyes.

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
  • Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.

  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.
