Huh. Seems right, and appears to indicate that maintaining a relationship hinges on both parties being aware and mitigating dissatisfaction before reaching that Terminal Phase where everything sucks and then it ends. Some methodology questions (as there always is with psych studies...) but those aside, dang, who knew communication really is important?

Gottman published, many years ago, that contempt is the primary not-survivable factor in a relationship.
