My favorite group, Rose City Band, put out a new record recently, Sol Y Sombra and I've been especially enjoying Lights on The Way and Wheels from that album. If you like something that's psychedelic, groovy, a little funky, and a little country, I can't recommend Rose City Band enough. Summerland and Earth Trip are also great albums.
I've been on a BICEP kick for a little while now.
Also the Oppidan boiler room set this week was great.
feels like decades since bicep's s/t was super popular, I listened to the four tet remix of opal a tonne in 2018, love that track.
Stupid question - what is s/t?
self titled :)
Thanks - but also damn, was hoping for a secret album!
I have been on a nostalgia kick, listening to mostly 90s punk. Turns out a lot of songs written during the Bush era feel highly relevant now (ex NOFX, Bad Religion, Rancid, Social Distortion, Dropkick Murphy's, Choking Victim, among others).
This also lead me to looking into other related bands that I didn't listen to before. Currently I am really enjoying discovering the back catalogue and new releases of both Rise Against and Propagandhi.
You might enjoy what Shriekback are doing recently
listened to a bunch of Sade, Janet Jackson, and Vince Staples over the last couple days. I like UKG and some older grime too, Ruff Sqwad are one of my favs (former group of tinchy strider, did the instrumental that was used by stormzy for shut up much later)
Ruff Sqwad just released an ep! It's decent, they had one last year too. They're back and active again. A grime fan on Lemmy is a rare sight lol
Sade is one of my faves :)
Yeah i sort of avoided the grime that was popular in the mid 2010s just because it was everywhere, I got into the older grime stuff I think partly cause i got turned on to 90s rap and rnb, so of grime i''ve heard mostly just the classics like ruff sqwad, wiley, kano, d double e, dizzee, etc., Love ukg and dance pop from around that early to mid 2000s time period too, cant go wrong there.
If I could only listen to one artist forever it might be Sade just cause they don't really have any bad tracks, they're so smooth, and the bass grooves are always sick. Also don't think they get enough credit either for changing their sound over the first 3 albums, i love diamond life and promise but her 90s/00s albums have aged better bc of that for sure
