B-but I thought Boost was abandoned because you didn't update it for awhile...

On a serious note thanks for your work rmayayo I'm only on lemmy cause of you. I'm not sure how you resist making fun of those "Boost is abandoned" people, really grinds my gears as somebody who's released stuff of my own and had people making similar claims for absolutely no reason (literally have a public git they can look at) but oh well. I've been extremely pleased with Boost both back on reddit and now here on lemmy your work is appreciated man

[-] rustydrd@sh.itjust.works 18 points 3 months ago

Same. When Reddit cracked down on third-party clients, I quickly realized that I liked Boost more than Reddit, and I'm super happy about how it's coming along.

I don't notice any of that personally (probably missed it). Did the dev reply to any of those claims? Over six months of no updates is kinda worrisome

[-] Traister101@lemmy.today -1 points 3 months ago

Occasionally yes but 6 months is frankly just not worrying at all. Loads of projects rarely get updates, for example video games Operating systems, for example take Android, is Android abandoned because each update takes about a year? Obviously no, the frequency of updates doesn't correlate to if the project is abandoned. People hassling rmayayo (albeit via a post) is not at all helpful to actually making any progress. Speaking from experience that kind of bs makes me want to stop working on my project. Obviously my work isn't appreciated if all they care about is release speed. Look to literally any large project, especially in the OSS world and you'll typically see pretty lengthy gaps between releases and very few patches. That means they release less frequently for higher quality, something that isn't possible if the only thing you care about is how often you get updates

~Nice super/subscript,~ ^Thanks^

[-] harlekin@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

Thank you very much for your efforts. Is there a "jump to top" button available? If so, can you point me in the right direction to enable it?

[-] rmayayo@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

In feeds is in the bottom-right button with the plus sign

[-] CaptainBasculin@lemmy.bascul.in 4 points 3 months ago

[-] Krudler@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

I knew getting the ad-free version last week was totally worth it! This app rocks, consider not having a coffee today and supporting this developer!!

[-] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 months ago

Thank you for the update!!

[-] helios@social.ggbox.fr 3 points 3 months ago

Thanks a lot ! The fix for scrolling image-heavy post is much appreciated.

[-] davidgro@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Thank you!
Out of curiosity, does it still also support Reddit style spoilers?

[-] rmayayo@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

Nope, I'm using a different markdown library. Also they wouldn't render on Lemmy website for the rest of users

[-] davidgro@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Where should I post feature requests?

(Actually misfeature removal request: Renumbering numbered lists is so bad that even Reddit removed it in the official app)

[-] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

still waiting for a button that rotates images like RIF had...

[-] xhenon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks for the update, really appreciate it

[-] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 months ago

yaaaay! i go between boost and eternity but this new update is wonderful boosts rocket again

all i want now is for the down vote buttons to go away since they're not used on my instance

a screenshot from eternity for lemmy showing a post with the down vote button removed

and maybe support for instance emojis when composing like when you type : and then it autofills suggested instance emojis :)

Love your app wish for more updates โ™กโ™ก

[-] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 2 points 3 months ago

Any plans to add swipe gesture actions to posts/comments?

[-] Hbeog@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Not a bug but a feature request. Can you add the content filters like the reddit boost had? So you can filter between images, videos, gifs, and script posts.

[-] riot@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

This is something I'm really missing too. It would be so lovely to be able to filter everything away, except text and link posts, for when I'm in bed at night. It was one of my most used features with Boost for Reddit, so hopefully it can be implemented in Boost for Lemmy some day too :D

Anyway, thanks for everything you do, rmayayo! Can't imagine using any other app for Lemmy.

[-] spicehoarder@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

I think the problem is that you can post pictures in your text posts

[-] riot@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

That's okay. I'd rather have the functionality and have to deal with that, than not have it at all.

[-] beefontoast@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Yes this is really needed please.

[-] obinice@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Yesss, thank you :-)

Ty! I'll boost the Rocket (again) ๐Ÿ˜

BTW: any chance you can smooth out the Rocket? It shakes pretty bad the whole time.

[-] officermike@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

I've run into what might be a bug. There's a post with an Imgur link and text that puts a thumbnail of the linked gif on the post page. The thumbnail displays correctly, but clicking the thumbnail takes me to a dead Imgur link in the media viewer. Clicking the Imgur link in the body text takes me to a live Imgur link with the original gif on a full Imgur post page within the custom tabs browser.

Thanks for the update!

I found a post though that still has very bad performance https://sh.itjust.works/post/35534975 - it's safe for work, it's about a game/mod. Scrolling through the post is very choppy, the app (or my phone) is really struggling. I'm using an Xperia 1 VI.

[-] rmayayo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

I see what's going on. Boost only resizes images hosted on Lemmy and that post uses external images ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
