Mythbusters did a segment that showed the air dryers are more likely to spread germs. So it's just awful all around

This feels more like a shower rant than a shower thought...

Either way, I'm here for it

I had to look this up because it's so ridiculous

"The potential to deliver 'one shot cures' is one of the most attractive aspects of gene therapy, genetically-engineered cell therapy and gene editing. However, such treatments offer a very different outlook with regard to recurring revenue versus chronic therapies," analyst Salveen Richter wrote in the note to clients Tuesday. "While this proposition carries tremendous value for patients and society, it could represent a challenge for genome medicine developers looking for sustained cash flow."

This is disgusting

Nah fam, my entire house is smart. It's just that it all runs on a completely separate and isolated network than anything else, and I can revoke all access to that network with ease.

Edit to add that printers are actually the fucking worst for this, since so many of them now are network printers, rather than just-plug-it-into-my-computer printers. They are notorious for being insecure, and require being on the same network as the computer from which it's printing. I have another separate network with very limited access just for my printer, and I have to join it from my computer if I ever want to print or scan

Italy has always been a bit odd - I remember a group of scientists were convicted of manslaughter because they didn't predict an earthquake that killed a few hundred people.

U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty, a Trump appointee, said the child — identified in court papers by the initials “V.M.L.” — appeared to have been released in Honduras earlier Friday, along with her Honduran-born mother and sister, who had been detained by immigration officials earlier in the week

Lawyers for the guardian told the court that V.M.L.’s father had been attempting to contact the girl’s mother to discuss plans for their child but ICE officials denied him the chance to have a substantive phone call. He says ICE allowed the two to speak for about one minute on Tuesday, while the mother was in ICE custody, but that they were unable to make any meaningful decisions about their child.

"The guardian" in that quoted paragraph refers to a friend of the girl's father, who he sent to pick up his daughter from the ICE detention center

From the New York Times article:

The order properly requires the government to ‘facilitate’ Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador,” the Supreme Court’s ruling said

It's weird how they put "facilitate" in quotes...

I made a bread box (lemmy.world)

I chose the picture that shows the fewest mistakes 😆

It's made from maple with a red oak cutting board from these plans

I didn't find out red oak isn't good for cutting boards until after it was made, so I'll have to remake it some day. The good news is that it will only be used for cutting bread, so I think any bacterial growth will be pretty minimal

It would be kind of funny if, in protest, mods set automod to remove every post for inciting violence
