I don't think Trump will be any better in his 3rd term. So pretty low really.

Could just be a dead guy, that'd be more stable.

I'm not compromising my standards. I'll vote for the least shitty candidate that can win, but I will still criticize them. People need to stop accepting their candidate is acceptable just because they voted for them or that criticizing their candidate means they voted for the wrong candidate. It's a 2 party system. Neither party is going to do everything the way you'd like it to. You can criticize them while voting for them, while asking others to vote for them.

That being said, a rock meets by standards better than my last options.

There should be more pressure to move away from the 2 party system creating these problems. We need to demand it from our leaders because they seem not to care about it either.

We can offer as much pressure as we want, they're the only game in town. So long as the Democrats have a monopoly on opposition to the Republicans they've got no incentive to actually oppose them. If they rendered the Republican party electorally obsolete then they'd be faced with third parties from all sides while losing their one unassailable reason for existing and having to appeal to their actual policies on merit.

The Untied States? In the next presidential election, this fall, it's predicted to be Andon Knot (Republican Order–Popular Emancipation) vs Trip Lacey (Community-Oriented Rally–Democrats), right? These candidates are both said to play fast and loose, but I don't think it'll be very different from the incumbent.

I'm assuming, as always, they will be entirely evil caretakers of Empire, regardless of who wins.

I say it can't get any lower but America keeps digging.

[-] TheLastHero@hexbear.net 5 points 10 months ago

probably like 70% of Americans would accept a military dictatorship right now even if it is a terrible idea

Honestly, the guy on the right is looking okay these days.

Found this on Lemmy yesterday, pretty accurately describes my thoughts on this question.

[-] NuraShiny@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

Wait, you guys had standards for this?!

[-] digdilem@lemmy.ml 4 points 10 months ago

Hopefully some of the 87 million eligible voters who stayed at home in the 2024 elections might have realised that voting does matter, and does change their life.
