The authors of the Constitution separated powers for a reason.
That's all well and good until at least one of those branches utterly and completely abdicates its duties...

Kind of feels like all three branches have done that. Congress isn't holding the executive or the courts to account, the court is splitting the power transfer with the executive branch to avoid being made outright irrelevant, and the executive branch is acting like a monarchy.
Boy it's a good thing Trump isn't wiping his ass with the constitution then, huh?
Give me a fucking break. The constitution is worthless if it gets ignored and nobody does anything about it.
Reminds me of that Yogi Berra quote: "In theory, theory and practice are the same thing. In practice, they're not."
When the separated powers are all stacked by the same side it is why a dictatorship could succeed.
There must be more immediate consequences for anyone who seeks to sidestep its purpose.
Bit early for takes like that, no? Americans still have the whole dictatorship ahead of them, we’re currently seeing it being established.
the article is about how dictatorships are a worse form of government than republics. It means that dictatorships fail because they creates poorer and worse countries. not that they fails because they are not able to maintain themselves
