(Australian PM) Albanese said: "I stand with the Aussie café owner."

"I can confirm here today that I am pro-Vegemite. I actually put a lot of Vegemite on my toast when I eat bread," he said.

"It's a good thing. I did hear the report. It's rather odd they're allowing Marmite, which frankly, is rubbish. Let's be clear: I'm pro-Vegemite, anti-Marmite. That's my position."

If you don't have a local yeast extract are you even a real country? I think Canada is just jealous of our amazing condiment.

It's been owned by Bega since 2017. [link]

Well then, that’s good for Australians and Vegemite lovers. Ive never sampled it, but I know I hate Marmite.

I think. I’ve not had it since I was a kid, but I also hated coffee and stout and aniseed back then so…maybe it’s time to try again.

Albo needs to immediately requisition ~~CA$8000~~ 9031 dollarydoos worth of Vegemite from the strategic national Vegemite reserve. Then send the SAS to Canada riding some attack kangaroos with the Vegemite in their pouches, to restock the poor bugger’s shelves

It isn't... at all.

How do you not see that?

Flowing: moving in one direction, especially continuously and easily.

It may be moving in one direction but continuously and easily not at all. I don't think you've ever actually experienced Marmite in person.

Marmite XO is the absolute nuts, and while Vegemite is an acceptable Marmite substitute in times of extreme hardship, it doesn’t quite measure up

[-] Aussieiuszko@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

Of course it doesn’t measure up, marmite is 6 feet under.

Wait. Why the hell did Canada not allow vitamins to be added to food? Here in America foods, especially breakfast cereal and bread, love bragging about added vitamins.

Pfffft Marmite is clearly superior ;)

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 7 points 1 month ago

The only thing Marmite is superior in is being sickenly sugary.

[-] theskyisfalling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Sugary is the last word I would think of to describe Marmite but I am also English so my taste buds are probably the least refined in the known universe.....

For me they taste very similar but the Vegemite texture is just so wrong, give me goopy tar any day of the week :p

[-] Aussieiuszko@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

Marmite has the textured of blended diarrhoea.

[-] theskyisfalling@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

If you are shitting out anything of that consistency then I think you should see a doctor.....
