I literally don't care if he was a gang member. He still has a right of due process.

And Trump is probably dumb enough to believe that the characters "MS13" which were added to the photo are actually part of his tattoo.

As discussed elsewhere, the Proud Boys are cowards who hide their affiliation in symbology, while members of MS13 have always had direct and unmistakable tattoos. Since Trump is so deeply ingrained with the Proud Boys, it is believed they are the ones who offered up this laughable symbolic meaning of the tattoos with the theory that since they hide who they are, everyone else must do this also.

If you want to pretend like there's any hidden symbology to the tattoos, why try so hard to make something that isn't there? Let's just stick with the first letter of each tat: MSCS, which could also stand for Master of Science in Computer Science -- an aspiring goal for someone who is trying to make a better life for his family. The point is, anybody can make shit up out of nothing and come up with something that "verifies" the answer you wanted, but that interpretation is still meaningless.

the left hand has knuckle tattoos of a marijuana leaf, a smiley face, a cross, and a skull, which the Trump administration says are symbols for "M", "S", "1", and "3," respectively

Except the gang is famous for literally tattooing MS-13 all over their bodies.

Bruh do a 5 sec search. Its insane how obvious the ms13 tattoos are.

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.” ― Jean-Paul Sartre

You can just replace "anti-Semites" in the quote with "right-wingers". They don't care, they're just trying to waste your time.

It doesn't fucking matter dickhead, he's entitled to due process, as are all citizens or non-citizens residing or visiting America.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

Yeah if you don't like the bill of rights fucking leave. And take your cronies with you. We've got ammendments other than the second

Is that a real photo of his knuckles? I mean, the MS13 is clearly added on and likely a "decoded" read of the pot leaf, smiley face, cross, and skull tattoos that are clearly in the knuckles (very dubious on that symbolism) but are this even Kilmer's actual knuckles? Or just a random photo of someone else?

Edit: yes, those are his knuckles as you can see pictures of him talking to that senator.

I strongly doubt, based on a quick search, that those are in any way related to a gang. They are evidence of drug culture (gasp!) but I've yet to see any evidence that any gang uses those.

Edit 2: it appears MS13 members literally just get tattoos that say "MS13" and don't attempt to hide it. It's a proof of loyalty thing, apparently.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

Trump added that with a sharpie.

[-] HappySkullsplitter@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago

Are they trying to say that the symbols are code for ms 13?

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 1 week ago

Yeah you type MS13 in Wingdings and that's what you get!

/s

[-] saltnotsugar@lemm.ee 11 points 1 week ago

Only the toughest MS13 accountants get Windings.

[-] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 6 points 1 week ago

in his defence, he probably can't read

I see two hands of a man who should definitely be removed from the United States

[-] Mycatiskai@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago

Little hands.

Why are a cross and a skull supposed to represent 1 and 3?

[-] TheDeed@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

This will only make sense if your brain is poisoned by lead and you are kinda dumb and racist.

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago

Does Trump think the letters added to the photo are part of the tattoo? His words suggest he does.

[-] dellish@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

"He has MS-13 tattooed on his knuckles". In Sans Serif apparently. Words cannot express how moronic Trump and his followers are.

[-] JillyB@beehaw.org 13 points 1 week ago

Whether he's part of ms-13 or not is irrelevant. If the government has such solid evidence, then he could surely stand trial. The character of the victim isn't important. The complete disrespect of the constitution, the courts, and thus rule of law is what's important.

[-] psivchaz@reddthat.com 7 points 1 week ago

It's mildly infuriating to me the people in this thread debating the meaning of the tattoos, because it totally misses the point. I don't think we have enough information to be defending his character, and it DOES NOT matter at all. He could be a stone cold murderer and I still wouldn't support extrajudicial deportation.

Basically, his character is all an irrelevant smoke screen. Stop engaging with it. It doesn't matter. What the Trump administration did was illegal and sets a terrible precedent, even if the dude was a murderous gang member.

[-] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago

To be fair, it's sort of the way of the internet and modern western society to love to nitpick and especially nitpick character flaws, and maybe some of that accidentally bleeds into spaces and people that want to be above such things (or at least not in a reductive or destructive way)

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Why does he have a FIFA trophy?

[-] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Is that the 8 pointed star of chaos? I have no idea why he thinks it's an M but was this guy a 40k fan?

[-] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

Oh it's marijuana... Why does it look like chaos to me?

[-] riskable@programming.dev 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Chaos is in your blood 🤷

From too many foods.

[-] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

You're thinking of nanoplastics

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 5 points 1 week ago

Nurgle blessesing?

Welcome to the inquisition!

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The chaos star is an old anarchist symbol too

[-] Zuzak@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

The cross is obviously a T, making it "MST3," unfortunately he didn't have enough room for the K.

Fr tho I have no idea the logic behind a cross being 1 and a skull being 3.

[-] Toneswirly@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

We dont elect presidents to be law enforcement, thats what the courts are for. Its literally guarenteed in the constitution: the right to a fair and public trial, legal counsel, and the right to know the accusations against you. Last I checked, its still legal to get tattoos.
