The ghostery addon does that whole decline process automatically, and also randomizes data that is mandatory to use the site, to help hide who you actually are. I never see these popups anymore, and I have cookies set to clear on browser close, which I do at least once a day to clean up whatever’s left over.

Idk about elsewhere but in the Midwest If you are driving and a semi wants to merge into your lane in front of you, you can flash your lights (off and back on, NOT high beams) a couple times to let them know they are clear of obstacles. Often they will turn off their lights (specifically tail lights or running lights) a couple times as a thank you.

I’ve never driven truck, but my step-dad did and I watched him signal this way for someone once and I’ve done it ever since. He said it makes it a lot easier as a driver, and gives me warm fuzzies when they do it back.

Yes.

Prove me wrong.

(Plz don’t actually.. I can’t handle that much awe in one lifetime)

I didn’t actually buy it, but I have a kitchen aid mixer that was a wedding gift to my parents, 6 or 8 years before I was born. I’m 36.

I also have some of my grandfather’s power tools that work fine despite being 40+ years old (tho I’m terrified every time I use them - the cords attach to the mechanicals with screws, and there are no failsafes - I don’t use them enough to spend hundreds on new ones)

All the stuff I “bought for life” myself has failed to live up to the hype. They really don’t make shit the way the used to.

I can see it now. 30 year olds lingering outside of shops asking 50 year olds to buy them smokes.

Double dippers can get fucked. Greedy swine. We already give you money, shut up and be happy with it. You already make tons of profit, can’t you just be satisfied with that instead of ruining everything further?? Maybe buy less avocado toast.

(I don’t use prime or any other streaming service, so it doesn’t impact me, but it’s the principle of the thing, and the sentiment stands)

Depending how it’s implemented, gamers are absolutely impacted by it.

Some of the chatter is that even already-released games would be subject to this change, meaning a lot of devs might pull their backlog to avoid going broke on a game they put out years ago and is now free (or heavily reduced). Or games that have always been free, now the dev has to choose if they want to charge for a historically free game or pull it completely.

This is dev hostile, but it’s also consumer hostile.

Ah, so the decision is very anti-developer, very anti-consumer, and only has any neutral/advantage outcome for themselves.

I feel really bad for the devs and studios scrambling to accommodate, but… Cool, I hope unity goes under for that choice :)

Consumers. Don’t. Need. Or. Want. More. Ads. Especially on shit they already paid for. Fuck off with that double-dip shit, it’s exhausting.

There are 8 different discharge types. You can read about them at the link below, but basically other than honorable is for serious violations (assault for example) that don’t meet the dishonorable criteria.

That is an amazing way to move you over, and I fully fully support the slight underhand of it all.

So?

Nobody ever said they are female, afaik.

Trans women are women.

Honestly, as long as they stay insulated from the rest of the fediverse, it’s not really any different than them spinning up a forum somewhere. It’s going to be a challenge for them to reach new people to warp to their worldview if they are largely kept away from everyone else.

And sure they might lurk in alt accounts to try their recruitment that way in the rest of the fediverse, but I feel like if it won’t be a default to be exposed to the rhetoric (like Reddit) all the time on most servers, since the vast majority aren’t going to want to connect to them, it will come across to potential recruits as exactly how extreme it actually is.
