You could probably do what the lap cat people do and just stuff a glove and shirt sleeve as a decoy. (They stuff a pair of pants, I’ve done that and it works well until they wise up so use sparingly!)

As long as it’s in the right place, it’ll probably work. For a bit. Might need a decoy mouse attached to it - have any old dead ones?

Unless what the cat wants is those slight movements and the “aww cmon” instant attention it gives :)

That edit is basically why I didn’t care for it.

I have a pair of usb Logitech controllers and they are alright, but the configuration was a pain, so like.. ehh.

It’s a lot better now, I just have a huge backlog of discs so not in a rush. Probably won’t be bothering with the next generation of consoles though. No point.

You could get like 50 people to pool resources to buy themselves a community… then pool resources to run it. It wouldn’t cost much for each person, really. 60k each.

As a bonus they could live in it now to maintain and further develop it, if they want to.

There’s a lot of ~65k houses in Indiana, as well.

I live in a low cost area and that’s about the only place I could move to come out ahead if I sell. Because houses there cost what I paid in 2013 for roughly equivalent places.. but they don’t get much weather, and I’d rather ride out the climate catastrophe in a water rich region than a wanna-be desert..

Even better, your microbiome covers your entire body (anything exposed to air) and into any organs that are part of the waste processing system.

So briefly after the snap you would see a vague outline of the creature, with a well defined digestive tract (mouth to anus), eyes, nose, ears, sinus system, and bladder. Because bacteria, viruses, and fungi are all quite small, the cluster of gut organisms would probably fall, and the rest would drift away. Imagine being in a crowded space and just breathing in all those bacteria, viruses, and fungi.. 🤮 I bet a lot of people would die from infections.

If the creature had any parasitic infections, like a tapeworm, that could also be left behind.

I never said I found either option likely, I was only addressing the “this doesn’t impact gamers” bit.

I don’t think I oversold it at all, it’s just a calorie balancer, it’s not going to do anything else, and it won’t fix a bad diet..

But it does work; it’s just a standard biological mechanism. If you shiver, you burn a ton of energy to do so, it comes from fat. This is true in any species with the shiver capacity, that’s what it’s for.

Bigger people need more shiver time and lower temps, which makes it harder to see the result, but it still works.

If what I’m seeing is right, then… maybe? I don’t care about the calendar at this point (solid chance I never will; I try to find it useful and my adhd prevents that - need more reminder options like “remind me every 25 minutes until I do something about it” and “remind me 2 days prior in case I forgot to accommodate it”), just the contact management.

The GitHub seems to have some stuff that might be what I’m looking for though, so link is appreciated. I have no idea what to do with this, but a good starting point (am mostly noob, looking for things to look into in October when I have a bunch of free time. I already need to learn docker for other reasons 😅)

Thanks for the help, I’ll do some digging :)

Literally said in the comment you replied to that I was talking about myself and nobody else (and it was never edited) so not sure why you responded with this.

And this is what I do (though I try to add to the conversation mostly), I’ve even started upvoting actual posts if I read them and learned or whatever, which is something I only did on reddit when sorting by new. The new habits are super difficult.

I’ve been way way more active here in way more diverse places than I maybe should be (I usually browse -all- right now to sub/block communities, and chime in on a ton of posts I don’t sub) so I hope it helps the posters, and I know it helps the statistics, but it isn’t the same as raw new content.

Fwiw, I’m not even deleting my comments every other day like I did on reddit. I know the content on fedi comes up randomly because sort bugs now and then so I’m being more careful about what I comment and leaving almost all of it completely intact. It’s very very difficult to do that 😅 I interact while intoxicated and am a ball of anxiety, and those don’t mix well. Purging my interactions was catharsis.

Solarpunk for tech? I dig it. I followed the community, you seem to really care about it, and while I don’t understand a lot of what you posted, I dig it.

I’ll try to participate when I can, but I can’t promise a whole lot. :)

I told my friend about your community. Also the whole infosec instance since he does infosec, and that seems like it might be a good local feed.. idk if it’s up his alley, but hopefully!

It’s well beyond me, sadly :(
