a lot of kids

They had 3 kids last time they came up, which despite their posturing is not really a notable amount, and they're both nearing their 40s, so it's unlikely they'll hit quiverfull numbers.

They basically invent a special new type of mental impairment to apply to brown people to sidestep the need to explain why entire swaths of the global south aren't desolate wastelands of barely functional people trying to converse in grunts, as predicted by Lynn's research.

That the statistics of a mean IQ of nothing imply that you should be able to fit every current African university graduate in a room together seems pretty valid as a reductio ad absurdum of the whole affair, surprised I didn't see it mentioned before.

I can never tell, is there an actual 'experiment' taking place with an LLM-backend agent actually trying stuff on a working vm or are they just prompting a chatbot to write a variation of a story (or ten, or a million) about what it might have done given these problem parameters?

Getting Trump reelected should count as 'billionaire philanthropy'.

You mean swapped out with something that has feelings that can be hurt by mean language? Wouldn't that be something.

Are we putting endocrine systems in LLMs now?

IQ test performance correlates with level of education

I read somewhere that this claim owes a little too much to the inclusion of pathological cases at the lower end of the spectrum, meaning that since below a certain score like 85 you are basically intellectually disabled (or even literally brain dead, or just dead) and academic achievement becomes nonexistent, the correlation is far more pronounced than if we were comparing educational attainment at the more functional ranges.

Will post source if I find it.

if bitcoin mining can only be profitable at scale by (among other things) not letting proper noise reduction solutions cut into your profit margins, saying that lax noise pollution laws are the issue seems disingenuous.

in a world of greater legibility, romantic partners would have the conversation about “I’d trade up if I found somebody 10%/25%/125% better than you” in advance, and make sure they have common knowledge of the numbers

To be clear, that world is inceldom and they already have a term for exactly that sort of thing.

I didn't mean to sound too derisive, heritability is an actually useful metric as far as I can tell, it's just not as intuitive or monosemantic as a lot people will make it out to be, especially in the absence of significant correlating DNA evidence.

Siskind strawmans this into the alleged opposition desperately claiming that "it's not genetic unless there's a specific gene you can point to", aka the bitches dont know bout my poly/omnigenic traits argument.

It's not even eugenics to optimize ze genome to make ze uberbabies, OP mostly seems mad people are allowed to have non-procreative sex and couches it in a heavily loaded interpretation of inclusive fitness.

Note that near the end of the original post the writer claims to have unilaterally decided to pay his sources a whistleblower fee of $5K each, which will probably muddy the waters a lot if this ever were to get traction outside ea/lw circles.

I’m very grateful to the two staff members involved for coming forward and eventually spending dozens of hours clarifying and explaining their experiences to me and others who were interested. To compensate them for their courage, the time and effort spent to talk with me and explain their experiences at some length, and their permission to allow me to publish a lot of this information, I (using personal funds) am going to pay them each $5,000 after publishing this post.
