That depends on which flavor of Christianity you're looking at, but even the Catholics don't think they go to Limbo, the pope had an entire study done on it, and the result was "we hope they go to heaven but we don't know"

A lot of the other denominations don't subscribe to the original sin shtick, and therefore babies would go to heaven even without being baptized.

Why people don't think the West is at war right now is beyond me.

We're being attacked economically.

We're being attacked socially.

We're being attacked via proxy countries.

We're even being attacked physically on our own soil.

Russia, Iran, and with some China thrown in the Mix.

The world is at war right now.

It really doesn't hurt to keep asking. Nobody that matters is going to be offended by it. Eventually someone will tell you, but just be aware that different people may have different reasons so don't assume feedback from one employer applies to all employers.

To be fair, he's a TV/Movie star too.

Finally something me and o'toole agree on. Dude got fucked by a shitty system for training, made a terrible mistake, owned up to it and served his time. It doesn't make Canada better to deport him.

You have no leverage when you only have one remaining economy to sell things to.

Russia is going to be turned into a Chinese vassal state.

For most types of crimes, I'd agree. This one just doesn't make sense though, there was no intention or malice behind it. It was an accident because he wasn't paying enough attention, the particular intersection was shit for sightlines, and he lacked the education and experience to handle it.

Other immigrants are not going to look at the deportation and go "I'm going to pay more attention while driving a semi-truck in rural areas" because of the deportation rather than the 8 years in jail and massive guilt of killing people.

You're an idiot. This is the second time Russia invaded Ukraine. We didn't respond the first time for Crimea, so Russia did it again.

The first time nothing was said about NATO.

One nice part of this is that the current level means that the next big event causing a wave away from Reddit will hold onto more people, since there's content here for them to see and read. When the last big batch came over 6 months ago, it was pretty bare and a lot of people left immediately.

They did commit vandalism, but I do agree this kind of police response is way out of line for such an offense.

I'm fairly pro Israel in this conflict, but even I don't think this vandalism was hate motivated based on what I see in the posters or what was said.

The thing everyone keeps forgetting somehow is that the goal of capitalism is to make profit, not improve quality of life.

The role of government is to regulate capitalism so that the profit goal and the quality of life goals end up being the same thing.

Unfortunately government isn't doing that right now because the number of people benefiting financially from this market distortion is larger than the number of people being negatively impacted. 65% of residential properties are still owned by the family living in them. That number will go down over time, and the government will bring in more regulation to re-align things, but we simply aren't there yet.
