They may be aggressive in their methods but they are one of if not the most trans friendly servers in the fediverse. Mostly because they ban people for bigotry and apologists of transphobes. I mean you are a cis person, saying that a space is unfriendly to transphobes because they are a bit on the aggressive side and ban people for bigotry that is real but you don't see or understand why it is bigotry. It really isn't your place to tell us trans people that a space meant for trans people is unfriendly to trans people.

It does have all the worst qualities of Reddit, including the hate speech and the hateful downvotes, I saw many people on Reddit heavily downvoted in unrelated threads because they were openly trans on their profile. I've unfortunately seen the same thing on Lemmy from Lemmy.world comment sections and that's just in the first 5 days of being here.

If you imagine and act on your own you're going to be much less successful than if you also connect with others.

Yeah it's easy to spot when you know what to look for. Even if they do try to hide it, which this guy did a shitty job at.

Found another one of them.

Just in case it's not clear, there are indeed people with ideas so toxic and so dangerous they need to be removed. Otherwise they will ruin it for everyone. When you tolerate the intolerant, tolerance is eventually seized and destroyed by the intolerant.

This isn't a case of disagreeing, this is by far the most common misrepresentation that centrist apologists use to try and vilify the banning and ostracizing of bigots and harmful ideology. There is no comparison to disagreeing about flavors of ice cream, to not wanting someone who hates trans people in your community where trans people hang out. Any attempt to do so is a bad faith comparison, because they are not equivalent.

He doesn't consider himself a right-wing extremist, yet he hangs out on Truth social, and admitted to it himself. That tells us all we need to know about what kind of person he is. Most people who aren't rather far right wing don't hang out on truth social, a platform by conservatives, for conservatives.

It's almost certainly transphobic people or bots run by transphobic people. Either way people who don't bring anything positive to the discussion and who bear hostility to the trans community, hence why I say the downvotes on the post can be used to find some of the more quiet transphobes and ban them.

That would explain a lot about the atmosphere there, the fact that there are so many people spouting thinly veiled transphobia and excusing transphobia.

I have too, !mtf@lemmy.blahaj.zone, !trans@lemmy.blahaj.zone, and !asktransgender@lemmy.blahaj.zone are some really nice ones. Most of what I've seen weren't bad communities or even bad posts, it was users commenting under posts, sometimes their own, sometimes other people's. Some weren't even in communities related to LGBTQ, but it came up and they were talking about it. Most of the users had the @lemmy.world extension but a few were lemmy.ml, and a few others too.

I know, I'm subscribed to many of their communities already, they are some of the nicest people I've met on the fediverse. If I was going to recommend my friends join Lemmy I would recommend they join lemmy.blahaj.zone. However even though there are good instances which are safe spaces it doesn't detract from the problem, since they will still use the federated general communities and thus will still encounter those problems. Even if they're on the friendly insances, the problem gets federated.

That's why it is important to address transphobia in the fediverse as a whole, having safe spaces help but we should expect a level of common decency in any community. Not just in the trans-specific communities.

Lemmy may harbor less transphobes than Reddit does but they're still here, these ones are just the ones transphobic enough to click downvote, but too scared of repercussions to speak their mind, I wish they would so they'd be banned faster.

I used they/them because when it comes to people who aren't quite out it's hard to know what they may or may not be okay with. Some people aren't at the point where she/her is comfortable, denial can be really bad as well. Also might be a transfem enby, we don't know that much about them though.
