Sounds like a "no true Scotsman" argument tbh

There are quite a few mature projects in 0.x that would cause a LOT of pain if they actually applied semver

Depending on how one defines the "initial development" phase, those projects are actually conforming to semver spec:

Major version zero (0.y.z) is for initial development. Anything MAY change at any time. The public API SHOULD NOT be considered stable.

Alles klar, dann führ deine Schlammschlacht mal weiter. Ich war wohl der irrtümlichen Annahme, man müsse sich nicht immer auf das Pöbelniveau der anderen Seite hinabbegeben...

P.S.: Die Definition von Sealioning solltest du vllt. nochmal nachschlagen.

+1 for own domain and some email hosting service. That also makes it pretty easy to switch providers because you can simply point your MX records etc. somewhere else - no need to change the actual email address.

I can also recommend mailbox.org as an alternative to mxroute, they're even a little cheaper at $3/month (mxroute is $49/year at minimum).

In Minecraft's case, you never needed the email address beyond initial registration. Login was always through username and password, which I still have. Had I actually forgotten my credentials, that would've been fair, but I didn't. They just suddenly decided that that wasn't enough and they now want some ancient email address that little me had typed in once over ten years ago.

Honestly, please explain.

I know SaaS, but I don't see how that is relevant to Windows 10 and its maintenance. The OS works without requiring an Internet connection, so it's not relying on cloud computing for much of its functionality.

Ending support for an OS is also totally normal, many FOSS OSes do it too. Whether you paid for it initially or not honestly makes little difference, at the end of the day someone else has to expend their own time to fix something for you - some might do so for free, while others want to be paid.

There weren't even any insults there, unless you think being a Lemmygrad user is one. Come to think of it, you may be onto something...

On a serious note: They're also spreaing Russian propaganda about the war in Ukraine, which is enough to discredit them anyway. Did I say war? Of course I mean SpEcIaL MiLiTaRy fAiLuRe!

I don't doubt it, I just have a problem with the reasoning that something is "natural" and therefore good. It's a common misconception that charlatans use to prey on people.

Was für ein Quatsch, wo habe ich denn was von Überwachung geschrieben? Zensieren von Beleidigungen ist nicht inhärent eine Überwachungsmaßnahme.

There's always the option to get a headphone jack adapter for USB-C. I haven't used one personally yet, but I've heard it to be a viable alternative.

Wasabi might also be worth mentioning, a while back I compared S3-compatible storage providers and found them to be cheaper for volumes >1TB. They now seem to be slightly more expensive (5.99$ vs. 5$), but they don't charge for download traffic.

I wouldn't call the discussions in this thread toxic, though. There are simply different viewpoints, some people are rather strict in their rejection of Meta's advances, and others (such as you) call for more open-mindedness.

There's simply no comparison to the name calling and other bs frequently found on Facebook, Reddit etc. Of course the Fediverse isn't immune to that, but I think we're doing rather well atm.
