My guess is that they decided that since it wasn't going away they might as well get it fully into the news cycle now and the year until midterms will be enough time for it to fade away or be thoroughly MAGAtized so that it won't be a voting issue.
It's unfortunate that we will never know if the Cuban model could fully succeed. The USA couldn't take that chance so has had to economically throttle the country for over 60 years. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Cuba had been free to trade with the world. Would corruption have taken over? Would they still spend large amounts of GDP on their people? It's clear the the USA thought they could make it work and the capitalists couldn't have that ideological competition right on their doorstep. American citizens might have noticed. As it is, we don't have enough info to know whether the internal problems could have been overcome or whether they would have gotten worse with a larger economy.
Isn't that where the Nazi's fled last time?
Skill to do a job is important. However it seems that many younger people do not believe that interpersonal skills are a necessary skill because they haven't learned them. Some have much more difficulty learning them or are completely unable to learn them due to neuro differences. They have a choice to either learn interpersonal skills or find work that is isolated where others don't have to interact with them directly in order to do their jobs. Workplace accommodations can only go so far in helping if other people must interact with them in order to do their jobs. People in the workplace have always had to figure out how to work effectively with others. If they cannot, they have had to find other types of work that don't require working directly with people. What's new is expecting others to conform to individual needs instead of individuals conforming to the groups needs. Could you take a socializing class to learn the basics and get out of your current comfort zone? Your coworkers don't need you to become their best friend but they do need to feel that they are not working with a robot. (I say this as someone who had to figure it out pre-internet. I was labelled Officious & Cold in one of my first employment reviews.)
Florida is already making it normal for children to be the future workforce.
Hopefully it is dessert soup otherwise it might be a bit on the sandy side.
40 years ago, I loved driving. Even 20 years ago it wasn't bad. Lots of open roads near by. In the big city, rush hour was 30 mins in the morning and an hour or so in the late afternoon. Other than those times you could get around the city quite well. There were always some yahoo drivers but they were a small part of the population not a majority. Now I walk whenever I can, take the bus sometimes and only drive if I know I can do it in the lower traffic (although still busy) times. I'd like to bike more but unless it is a completely separated lane there are too many badly driven vehicles to take chances with my life.
Maybe someone should out her as an illegal alien.
They never understand that their wages, their benefits, their subsides for their businesses to survive are the "waste" that the right is talking about. To cut "waste'" is to cut all government because government only exists to stop the rape and pillage by a business entity strong enough to be doing it. Why should the food you consume be safe - that cuts into corporate profits. Why should children be educated - that cuts into corporate profits. Etc. If you aren't the owner of said corporation, you do not matter. Of course Trump needed their ill-informed vote to do what his is doing now. This is exactly what they explicitly voted in favour of, even if they were too dim to understand that.
The Canadian version in our current election is climate change denial. We can't have any restrictions due to carbon/fossil fuels because that costs money. Even though by not have any restrictions, fossil fuel corporations are shifting 100% of their environmental damage costs on to taxpayers. We don't get the revenues, we don't get the profits but we get all the costs. Once again: privatized profits, socialized costs. The status quo of big business.
Was. He was a great marketeer. And then he crashed his brain and is ruining everything he built.
Wasn't dog in a crate? Possibly died due to lack of water and food?
They don't consume fossil fuels to operate. Can't have masses of people not enslaved to their car and its operations since that might hurt some big corporations bottom line.
