Yes, one would normally prefer a fixed blade.

However, depending on local laws, that may not be possible to carry.

That reminds me, I'm moving soon, I need to check out some various laws for the new place.

As a born US citizen, yeah, our shit is fucked. Especially if the GOP stays in power. Back to the puritan days of Plymouth.

If my wife didn't have such a fear of flying, we'd leave the country.

I use proton pass currently.

My life is changing in less than two weeks.

I have an enterprise grade server that I can't run for a variety of home reasons.

When me and the wife... for lack of a better term, escape, our situation, I'll be able to self host. I know its gonna be a struggle, I have things to learn, and that is why I'm so excited.

My first job was in a nursing home. I lasted three weeks.

First let me say, the place was horrible and the state shut it down a week after I left, so my experiences tend to the dramatic.

I've worked Medical IT for a long time and I have to say, even in IT, patient care is a priority.

I've told a president of the company they can go fuck themselves because a patient needed assistance. Thankfully, they saw my point (this was not the nursing home)

All that said, this nursing home was awful. I washed dishes. That was it. I didn't have to bus trays, or any of it, it all got dumped on my sink and I washed it. I got paid minimum wage, and had difficulty with things like taking a state mandated lunch break. Yeah.

I got dishes back from both the lunch room and the guest rooms.

The stuff that came back from guest rooms haunted me.

We're talking about a person who has lost the plot, so to speak, and is not sensible; stuffing mashed potatoes and napkins into a cup and it festered. I don't mean like, it was room temperature and gross - thats whatever. The shit that came from their rooms was a biohazard.

Medical work is gross, and grueling, but at the end of the day, maybe you helped someone. I wasn't clinical, but I spent enough time in patient rooms fixing stuff to get to know a few.

I didn't cure their condition, but when a child wakes up screaming in a hospital bed, sometimes its just an IT guy who is there to calm them down, let them know their situation (as best you can, I don't have their medical info) so they stop freaking and pulling out IVs and sensors and shit.

I know this type of information from an IT help desk job. Medical IT. Shit gets weird in hospitals.

Biden is so far right of Communism that their ignorance is almost humorous, if it wasn't dangerous. Not to mention their guy called out to his Russian handlers on national TV for help, but at least Russian's are mostly white, I guess?

Promising blood, pain, war, and suffering - so swallow their rhetoric or be ready to be enslaved. Freedom of religion? The fuck does that mean?

Insert lionelhutz.jpg The truth? Or "The Truth?"

Blatant fascism from the GOP nominee? Who would have guessed?

Yes, Trump is a problem. But the problem runs deeper.

If not Trump, another useful idiot.

As a Texan, in a purple area, this doesn't surprise me from Oklahoma.

I had the displeasure of driving through OK to get to my late father in law's hospital bed before he passed.

I ended up blowing through a toll entry because they didn't accept paper money or cards. Just coins. I went to the little building to try to pay my way, and it appeared to be abandoned.

Mother fuckers, I can buy a legal variant of weed with my fucking watch. Coins? Join this century please.

I feel like every beverage containing caffeine should have its total content labeled.

Not because I'm sensitive or anything, I just need the biggest dose I can find in the morning.

Then again, I've been addicted to caffeine since child hood. I quit once, it was thought to be disturbing my sleep; NOPE! Just bipolar mania fucking it up.

If anyone is concerned, I'm on meds and doing well - I still might stab someone in the morning over getting in the way of caffeine though.

I guess the Republicans choose to ignore the separation of church and state.

Shame, since they call up the constitution so frequently.

Must be like the bible, they haven't actually read the thing they espouse to take their guidance from.

The sheer pride in ignorance these days astounds me.

It isn't bad to be ignorant, we all have things to learn every day. Its bad to be proud of it and to refuse to elevate oneself above their own shortcoming.

If that isn't the republican party in a nutshell, though.

My biggest problem is some schmuck who I doubt has a medical degree, and has never seen me as a patient, but has absolute power over what a MEDICAL DOCTOR deems necessary.

At that point it really begins to sound like practicing medicine without a license to do so, let alone the knowledge required to get an MD.
