I worked in Yellowstone for a season. People are idiots and despite being told that the animals are wild beasts and we're just visiting their home, they think these animals are tame when they wander into civilization.

They're not. They never will be.

Being late for work because of wild life is common, and while verified, no one gets shit for it.

One day I had to call my boss and say I'd be late because there was a bison blocking the exit of my employee dorm. She just said be safe and get in when you can. Bison wandered off 5 minutes later and I went into my shift. All good, no further questions.

When the local elks gave birth and nested in Mammoth Hot Springs for the first week of their babies lives, it was super hectic and crazy. The elk moms were vicious. Went to pop out for a smoke during my shift, and rapidly realized the usual spot was no longer friendly. Employee rules were relaxed and smoking in front of the hotel was allowed, briefly, because safety was paramount.

In the same time span, me and a few friends were walking back from the employee pub to our dorms and we ended up getting trapped on the loading dock for the employee cafeteria, because elk don't climb stairs. We had to be rescued by rangers because we were essentially besieged by a vicious (protective) elk.

But you can't stop a foreign tourist from putting a baby on top of a wild bison if they don't understand English. You can just call the local ranger station to send out rangers to try to keep people safe.

As a side note, national parks are FEDERAL land. Everything is handled in a federal court house, with federal charges, and rangers most certainly are federal LEOs. This includes being stupid with the wild life.

Obama wore a suit, and he got shit because they didn't like the color.

Trump on the other hand, wears diapers and has inspired his moronic base to wear them publicly as well. Not just, under their clothing like a normal person, they think its better than pants.

Stories like this remind me of the sadder times working at a children's hospital.

"Non-accidental trauma" is a phrase that haunts me to this day.

Time enjoyed is not wasted.

Of course, Tik Tok isn't my jam, so it would be a waste of time for me.

I mean, Jesus was a liberal.

Gandhi was problematic in his own right, but he wasn't wrong when he said, paraphrasing, I like your christ, he is so unlike your Christians.

Social engineering, arguably, is one of the harder things to learn.

It's a collection of soft skills, and if you've been paying attention to rank and file tech jobs, places are looking for people with soft skills because they're so impractical to train.

This goes down to your basic help desk tech.

Anyone with an interest in computers can sit down and learn how to analyze and exploit weakness in code. In fact, it's a fun puzzle. Dealing with other people, let alone establishing oneself as another person and fucking SELLING that character enough to get what you need?

People write off social engineering far too quickly. It's quick, it's effective, and if done well, the person you exploited doesn't even realize they've been tricked.

I seem to recall an interaction between Bats, Superman, and WW.

All lassoed with the lasso of truth and stating their real identities.

Two give their real birth names, and Bats just identifies as batman, revealing that Bruce is absolutely his alter ego, billionaire mask he wears in public.

You're not necesarrily wrong, but modders currently have a more difficult time than with Skyrim.

As far as I'm aware, modding tools from Bethesda haven't been released yet, kinda limiting what people can do.

Not that it can't be done, its just more difficult and time consuming than using producer built tools. People were modding games before any one put out tools for that purpose. Notepad and a hex editor can get you a long way if you know what you're doing, at least back then.

I guess I should say this is from the perspective of a PC gamer, primarily. I've used consoles in the past, sure, but my last console was an Xbox 360 and before that a PS2.

That's a symptom of capitalism as a whole.

The whole perpetual growth, and being legally bound to try to provide that to shareholders, means only "safe" ideas are given any traction.

The only time any "innovative" comes out is when billionaires have a pipe dream.

However, they lack the skills or expertise (or even common sense) to execute them.

Musk had ideas, bought his way into leadership, and essentially had to be corralled by handlers while other people did the actual hard work.

Then, at the platform formally known as Twitter, with no handlers... Well, the world has seen how an unleashed Musk handles that. Spoiler: not well.

And had enough wisdom to realize he didn't know everything and enlisted the smartest person available for assistance.

Its a primitive thing, maybe... Like a genetic memory.

A good stick is a bad ass tool when you only have your hands, its free and plentiful, and its no big loss to start over.

You can use a stick to kill or stun animals, dig a trench for waste, with more sticks and some sort of cover you make a shelter, sticks are also fuel for fire, a stick can get you into a sheltered situation, possibly with a warm meal, and its just a bunch of sticks.

Add a pointed rock to the mix? Fuck, now you have one of the most effective weapons in the history of humanity.

A good stick and a good rock is the most primitive tool set we had, and it was available to everyone.

I really need to get back into field craft.

If the punishment is a fine, it just means there is a cost to the activity. It isn't actually illegal, you just can't afford it.
