This isn't a community where I feel it's appropriate to get into those kind of topics. You're welcome to PM me if you're actually curious what I'm talking about.

But regardless, I was hoping Lemmy would be a good space for free thought. But it's quickly turning out not to be that way.

Wow. Honestly this makes me seriously contemplate my move to Lemmy. I thought lemmy.world was at least a free speech endorsing server. So now we have the two biggest Lemmy instances out there that are clearly against free speech. Lemmy.ml is moderated by pro CCP mods that remove anything anti-china, and lemmy.world can't even tolerate a sub about conspiracy theories (which we should all know have a tendency of coming true the past few years) and is therefore already starting with stifling free speech.

Yeah, go start your own instance... Not everyone wants to run their own instance just to be able to browse communities on other instances that your current instance doesn't agree with.

Yeah... This is really putting a sour taste in my mouth about Lemmy already.

I was glancing through the mod log and saw these two entries. Conspiracy theory communities were both removed for violating rule #3.

What are these rules? If I look in the side bar, rule #3 on both lemmy.ml and sh.itjust.works to me looks like no porn. So why were conspiracy theory communities not allowed? That seems like kind of a community that shouldn't be an issue on Lemmy... are conspiracy theory subs really something that won't be allowed here? Honestly that's kind of disturbing to see already...

This page on Torrent Galaxy has become my RARBG replacement. Shows new releases without having to sort through all the garbage.

I honestly have no idea why bidets haven't taken off in the US. After travelling to other countries though, had to buy one for my home toilet. And now I hate having to poop elsewhere where there's no bidet.

First, that's not true. Tons of websites use non-essential cookies for various functions that have nothing to do with tracking, all of which would be covered under the GDPR and require a cookie popups.

Expecting website operators to run we sites without any analytics and advertising is an absurd expectation. They have to bring in revenue somehow. That's what privacy and ad blocking extensions are for.

Yeah, no, sorry. The EU fucked up the internet for the entire world.

Phones were designed with non-removable batteries for a reason. It's not just to screw w/ the customer and make them pay someone to replace their phone battery. It's to aid in water resistance and to help with a smaller form factor. This will lead to nothing good. And I'm sure it will carry over to other countries as well as I'm sure a lot of phone manufacturers won't want to make special models JUST for the EU.

Just another example of the EU imposing nonsense regulations that will screw over the rest of the world, like their stupid cookie popup nonsense.
