I used to be a fundamentalist right wing Christian Republican. I see myself in this sentence.

The love of Christ that Christians say they have was nowhere near their hatred of "the gays". Jesus says nothing of Homosexuality so Christians hang their politics on two really obscure verses in the Old Testament.

He's taking steps in the right direction. He still has a ways to go to make amends.

But the fact that he's publicly "coming out" with his apology should be seen as a good thing because he's likely going to get bomb and death threats from the fundamentalists.

Before Trump took office, Obama was facing an opposition Congress with a majority in the house and senate. They passed something like 80+ bills to fully repeal Obamacare which Obama of course vetoed. They lacked the majority to overturn the veto but did so anyway.

They did this all the leading up to Trump, with many Republican candidates promising that they would repeal Obamacare once the Republicans took over the government.

Guess what?

They did.

But guess how many full repeal bills got passed let alone introduced? A full fat zero.

Because everyone in the Republican party knew that it would absolutely kill chances at keeping the majority. They played political theatre for two years and then pussed out when Trump got into office.

Eh... identity theft sentencing, assuming you go federal, is 2 years minimum. And most cases are civil.

I prefer fraud, which carries 5 years. Add wire fraud on top of that and now you're talking 20 years.

Conan O'Brien had an interview I think with Taylor Tomlinson where they talked about this topic.

Their conclusion was that comics that complain about it being harder to do comedy are just lazy.

It's always been hard. Even if it's true that there are less topics that you can touch, it means that you have to dig deeper in the well you can. It's your job as a comic to do that hard work, not the audience's job to laugh at your shit joke.

Conan has been doing comedy his whole life and talks about jokes that do great one night and jokes that bomb the next. Comics need to learn to read the room and adjust their jokes accordingly.

Iirc cases where the central complaint is AI, ML, or other black box technology, the company in question was never held responsible because "We don't know how it works". The AI surge we're seeing now is likely a consequence of those decisions and the crypto crash.

I'd love CVS try to push a lawsuit though.
