On the one hand, the UN making a resolution that they won't trust the results of the US elections would play right into the hands of what some MAGAs are saying.

But MAGAs then agreeing to any UN resolution, especially one that requires third party oversight...

I'd say the odds are even on this.

Sovcits are.... interesting.

There's an aspect of their philosophy that I get. Like there is a sort of magical incantation they say and proof you're immune from the law.

That's sort of how courts work. We're all about precedence, making sure that court rulings from before are applied fairly and equally. Knowing these rulings and how to apply them seems like magic to those of us who aren't attorneys.

And all law and court rulings are text that you can read, right? So anyone should be able to read and recite them, right?

I sort of agree with the logic in the sense that I absolutely hate how any court action almost requires the services of an attorney. No matter how right you are, you still have to spend money to prove it in court.

But the nonsense of not paying any taxes or not being held responsible for your actions....that is where I draw the line.

This isn't sarcasm. This is literally the line of thinking from Republicans

It's always "Immigrants stole your job" and never "The CEO hired an immigrant instead of you".

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. <----- And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.

That's why. He'll jump to number six after he loses, saying the GOP didn't support him enough and they deserved to lose.

I hate to say it but voting is the bare minimum.

  • Vote
  • If you can donate to your candidate or choice, do it.
  • if you can't donate, volunteer.
  • Live in an area where the race is pretty much set due to gerrymandering? Volunteer and donate for other candidates.
  • Don't have time to volunteer? Write to your editor about your candidate.
  • Don't want to write? Send dank memes to people on lemmy encouraging them to vote.

In the US, you can sue anyone for any reason, even if it's frivolous.

You force the other side to respond, making them hire a lawyer to defend you, even if the case is dismissed on its merits.

I very much disagree with lemmy.world's decision to block the community but I completely understand it. I exercised my right to move to a new instance in response.

This right here. I know lemmy is all "LINUX IS FOR EVERYONE!" But it isn't.

I know this would go against Google's self interest but they are best poised to make Linux mainstream. Chrome OS can play android games natively. But it's all close source.

It wouldn't take much to make the ecosystem for general Linux. I don't know if the other android-based OSes are working on this but anything we can do to push gaming into Linux would help it to become a better everyday OS

You normally pay an annual fee to keep your LLC registered.

It's a weird timeline where we rather have someone who is just embezzling than actually causing harm.

At least he was stimulating the economy, among other things.
