If you don't know what Deus Ex Randomizer is, here's the trailer from v3.0 which gives an overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3mTcG6xeq4&list=PLZIQTa_kwZhBksj7UzcahPiRaHk87fWch&index=1

Download here: https://mods4ever.com/

It's been about 1 year since v3.0 let you pet the dogs and other animals. Here are some of the biggest things we've added since then.

  • Many new game modes:
    • Halloween mode, WaltonWare Halloween, and other varieties - adds zombies, limited saves, and Mr. H who is a big invincible guy that roams the map and tries to smack you.
    • Mr. Page's Mean Bingo Machine - A new mode where you play through the whole game, but must complete a bingo line before being allowed to progress to the next mission. Once you get to the next mission, you are given a new bingo board!
    • Zero Rando Plus - like "Zero Rando" (no randomization, very vanilla) but Plus more quality of life additions and balance tweaks.
    • Speedrun Training mode - shows where possible goal locations are without spoiling them.
    • We split off the old "Normal Randomizer" mode into "Full Randomizer", with the new "Normal Randomizer" being a more welcoming game mode to learn the Randomizer.
    • Strong Augs mode - increases the strength of augmentations.
    • One Item Mode - Our new dumbest game mode! All items in a map will be replaced with a single type of item (eg. all flares, all biocells, or all beers)

  • Many new loadouts and augmentations:
    • The default "All Items Allowed" loadout now starts with the new inferior "Running Enhancement" instead of the old "Speed Enhancement". Choose the "Speed Enhancement" loadout if you want to start with that like before.
    • The Three Leg Augs loadout - Allows Running Enhancement, Jump Enhancement, and Run Silent. You start with one of them. Enables aug slot rando by default.
    • My Vision Is Augmented loadout - Allows Vision Enhancement, Short-Range Vision Enhancement, InfraVision, and Motion Sensor. You start with one of them. Enables aug slot rando by default.
    • Random Starting Aug (instead of Running Enhancement)
    • And more!

  • Lots of balance changes
    • Allowing even more variety of play styles, especially with augmentations.
    • Balance changes are also now toggleable in the options. Disabled by default for Zero Rando, but most are enabled by default for Zero Rando Plus.
  • More goals rando, especially for Gordon Quick, and Area 51.
  • New augmentation slot randomization feature (so speed can be an eye aug)
  • Multiple, rotating quicksave slots
  • New menu to change current in-game settings
  • Many new bingo goals and improvements to our bingo game modes!
  • Deus Ex: Revision support is massively improved as a whole

Relatively stable? I've seen some complaints, so I haven't done the update yet. But Google considers it to be stable lol.

the Peertube federation works really well now, I copy-pasted a bunch of video links into my search bar and it pulled them all no problem

https://lemmy.mods4ever.com/c/die4everplays@spectra.video (Lemmy was forcing the link to stay local when clicked, so you gotta copy-paste to see how it looks on that instance) (if you want to follow: !die4everplays@spectra.video )

yep, if you're a lemm.ee user then your Export button will be here: https://lemm.ee/settings

the bottom of the right column

Mastodon handles it pretty decently where it automatically gets your followers to follow your new account, there's no reason why communities/groups couldn't do the same thing

Hey everyone

We’re really sorry to say this, but lemm.ee will be shutting down on June 30, 2025.

What you need to know

As of now:

  • New user registrations are disabled
  • Creating new communities is disabled

What you should do:

  • You can export your settings at https://lemm.ee/settings to take them with you to another instance.
  • If you're moving to another instance, consider adding a note to your lemm.ee profile with your new username. Your old profile will still be visible from other instances even after we go offline.
  • Alternatively, if you want to delete your lemm.ee profile, now is the best time to do it, so the deletion can federate out before we go offline.
  • If you're one of the folks supporting us with a recurring donation, please remember to cancel it (Ko-Fi donations should have been cancelled automatically already). Our leftover funds are already enough to cover our bills for next month, so we can keep things running without any more support.

Because of how Lemmy is built, everything posted on lemm.ee will still be accessible from other instances, even after we go offline.

Why this is happening

The key reason is that we just don’t have enough people on the admin team to keep the place running. Most of the admin team has stepped down, mostly due to burnout, and finding replacements hasn’t worked out.

The sad reality is that while there are a lot of great people on Lemmy, there are also some who use the platform to attack others, stir up conflict, or actively try to undermine the project. Admins are volunteers who deal with the latter group on a constant basis, this takes a mental toll. Please understand why our admins chose to step down, and be kind to the admins on whatever instance you decide to join.

We know this sucks. We're genuinely sorry it’s ending like this. Thank you to everyone who spent time here and helped make it better.

Lemmy probably needs support for different levels of permissions, like Discord has, and PieFed has this too (but I don't think it's as in-depth as Discord yet)

"complete rewrite" means the code was rewritten, not art/data assets

same thing with OpenRCT2 or GZDoom or anything like that, you need the game files

if they included everything you need to play the game for free with the original art assets, it would be illegal

Everyone thinks the moderation/admin features need to be improved. I'm curious which improvements people are really needing. Whenever I see big complaints about it (beehaw, lemmy.one) I never see any specifics. Link the filed Github issues for them otherwise the feature requests don't really exist, and I'd like to give them thumbs up reactions so they get prioritized more.

Once I saw Beehaw give an actual specific complaint, and it was fixed in a hotfix (v0.18.5) within a couple weeks. Of course Beehaw never updated to that version anyways.

Attack on Titan, my god. Not even between seasons, literally in the middle of a season and they're just like ok we're gonna take a 2 year break now!

At least One Punch Man has the courtesy to put their breaks in between seasons properly.

Github really tries to hide the Releases page lol it's so annoying as a dev, it's even worse on mobile

I usually end up just directly linking to /releases/latest

we all know there's currently only 1 chick in the fediverse

Nutomic:

This is implemented in the main branch now. If you want to develop a plugin for Lemmy, have a look at the RFC and the examples. If you have questions about plugin development, feel free to post in the Matrix dev chat, !lemmy@lemmy.ml or open an issue.

https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3562#issuecomment-2760779122

Examples in multiple languages: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-plugins#lemmy-plugins (only a few examples currently, more languages are possible including Python)

Anyone planning to start working on a plugin?

Happy 40th anniversary to the first game in the King's Quest series, one of the first graphical adventure games, and where Sierra really made their name.

This game also kicked off the Adventure Game Interpreter (AGI) engine, which Sierra used for many games. Wikipedia says: They employed it in 14 of their games between 1984 and 1989, before replacing it with a more sophisticated engine, Sierra's Creative Interpreter. There's no Wikipedia article for the SCI engine, but I know it was used in Phantasmagoria and Shivers, here is the ScummVM wiki page for SCI instead.

Wikipedia Synopsis

King's Quest: Quest for the Crown is an adventure game developed by Sierra On-Line and published originally for the IBM PCjr in 1984 and later for several other systems between 1984 and 1989. The game was originally titled King's Quest; the subtitle was added to the games box art in the 1987 re-release, but did not appear in the game.

It is the first official part of the long King's Quest series (not counting 1980's Wizard and the Princess), in which a young knight, Sir Graham, must save the Kingdom of Daventry to become the king. Designed by Roberta Williams, the game was revolutionary and highly influential in the evolution of the graphic adventure game genre by introducing more detailed graphics and animation.

An official remake titled King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown was released in 1990. An unofficial remake was released by Tierra Entertainment in 2001.
