Assuming it's just like a Steam Deck without the screen, how would that compare to popular controllers like consoles first-party ones or 8bitdo's offerings?

The Switch is fantastic for what it is. Sure, it's anemic and old, but it's a creative design that more or less created a whole product category and allows for very creative gameplay.

They did push their luck a bit with BOTW and especially TOTK, regarding performance, sure. But most of the time, you really don't need incredible processing power to play a Nintendo game. They're overdue for a Switch 2 (I suspect they planned to release that much earlier but a combination of the pandemic and higher sustained sales than anticipated changed their plans), but I really don't think most of their consoles can be considered mistakes.

IMO Nintendo brings something different and it's very much okay that it exists.

What I'm actually doubtful about is Xbox and Sony. Those are just PC-controller combos, made cheap through standardisation, high volumes and loss-leader tactics, essentially. Microsoft and, to a lesser but similar degree, Sony, are the ones I'm not convinced provide the world with much value by making consoles.

Rupture an existing one, right?

Thanks for the details!

If I owned this apartment, I'd get the outlet added in a heartbeat. But since I'm a renter, I'm really hesitant.

As for the outlet... It WOULD be possible to run one along the ceiling or something like that, but it would be so much work to do in an aesthetically acceptable manner (and also I'm not too sure how the building code would like that) that at that point I'd almost rather pay an electrician. Which brings me back to: do I really want to pay to improve this place when I don't know how long I'll live here?

Decisions, decisions...

According to the dictionary, 抜き打ちnukiuchi and 抜き付けnukitsuke sound like synonyms. I'm a little confused.

I guess with uchi (to strike down) vs tsuke (to put, attach, etc) one sounds more like the result and the action but it's weird that the definitions from Jisho.org aren't too explicit.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll give those a try when I have some time. :)

Aw, that's sad. :(

Depending on the internal design of the phone, maybe.

But batteries are rectangular and they can't put them EVERYWHERE. There are places (such as near the USB port) where you can't really put battery no matter what because there have to be things that would interfere with the rectangular battery.

So it might have an effect, but not necessarily, depending on design, and it might be smaller than you'd think.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised it isn't a thing in some countries but ... Come on. :(

I'd have expected ad providers to catch on pretty quickly that there's cheating involved, no?
