Weren't people a bit more positive about monarchy back when Elizabeth II was alive? I feel like she had a sort of mystique that made her feel more legit for some reason.

Assuming it's just like a Steam Deck without the screen, how would that compare to popular controllers like consoles first-party ones or 8bitdo's offerings?

The Switch is fantastic for what it is. Sure, it's anemic and old, but it's a creative design that more or less created a whole product category and allows for very creative gameplay.

They did push their luck a bit with BOTW and especially TOTK, regarding performance, sure. But most of the time, you really don't need incredible processing power to play a Nintendo game. They're overdue for a Switch 2 (I suspect they planned to release that much earlier but a combination of the pandemic and higher sustained sales than anticipated changed their plans), but I really don't think most of their consoles can be considered mistakes.

IMO Nintendo brings something different and it's very much okay that it exists.

What I'm actually doubtful about is Xbox and Sony. Those are just PC-controller combos, made cheap through standardisation, high volumes and loss-leader tactics, essentially. Microsoft and, to a lesser but similar degree, Sony, are the ones I'm not convinced provide the world with much value by making consoles.

I think the profanity filter used to be non-optional on iOS's autocorrect.

Yeah, our company has been meaning to transition to them for a while. I started saying Jsdoc comments but people complained about the pollution. Then I said fine, we'll do TypeScript one day instead.

That one day has yet to come. I don't actually get to decide much at this company, after all. Aah, technical debt.

Nope, don't need to. WebStorm can even detect nonexistent attributes for objects whose format the back-end decides, and tbh I'm not sure what sort of sorcery it uses.

I've tried it. There were three issues:

  1. Mouse movement was pretty choppy. Not exactly a dealbreaker, but it took a little extra effort to aim at buttons.
  2. There wasn't an easy way to do keyboard shortcuts. I googled the issue and people were suggesting to change the system keyboard to one that includes extra keys like Windows, Ctrl, etc. I really didn't want to deal with that.
  3. The interface was pretty hard to navigate. In the absence of extra keyboard keys, I looked into creating a custom script in the app to maybe do things like Alt+tab a different way, and I never found it. Both apps said it had to be configured on the other device.

Wait it was? How are we still seeing it and commenting on it?

[-] Eiri@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

I'm surprised that happens! Seems like a complicated mistake to make.

Oh spam email I absolutely get a lot of. But spam calls, thankfully, are a relatively rare occurrence.

You're motivating me to start looking into pans again. The only one I have is a warped The Rock ceramic non-stick pan (that absolutely does stick) and it has basically the disadvantages of Teflon (although I don't think it's actually Teflon) without the advantages.

I've wanted a quality, rivet-free, stainless steel pan for a long time. Maybe it's time, instead of waiting for my crap pan to finally die.
