It's kind of a shitbag thing to do but also a practical use for an otherwise throwaway season before a regulation change. I can't say I agree with it but I can see the logic in it.

That's fine, but removing downvoting doesn't prevent the discussion. It curbs drive-by negativity which is a good thing IMO.
Obviously everyone is free to disagree with things. It should be more than absentmindedly hitting a down arrow though. Others obviously feel differently. Thankfully both exist on Lemmy.
He seems to be approaching the situation with a level head. Hopefully he's able to mesh with the engineers quickly and provide feedback that helps them get the car in the window it needs to be in to perform. It really sounds like setup is everything on this year's cars.

The one thing I'm missing from my F1TV sub is the driver cam with team radio. After the first lap I'd almost always rather listen to the teams than the commentators. Still can't decide if the commentary isn't very good or if my tastes are just too specific.
My personal favorite is Boost but it hasn't seen an update in quite awhile. Thunder is the leading contender to replace Boost if it doesn't update soon. Thunder is seeing very active development and has a ton of customization options to suit your needs. There are several options out there now though. Probably worth trying them all.
