The license says (paraphrased) that you need to keep the original license file, which has the authors name. Even if you re-license it, you leave the old license there without touching it and put your new license next to it.
They did not follow that clause and deleted the original license and the original attribution.
A thanks does not necessarily imply credit.
I'm using a selfhosted forgejo but in case something goes wrong with that, everything is also mirrored to sr.ht (which has a shit GUI if you are liking github/lab).
mindustry
I have successfully recovered from dead drives by restoring from a borgbackup to a fresh new drive.
Borg backups take much less space on the backup storage because of extremely efficient compression and deduplication.
The Professor who developed it has some presentations on youtube and it's kind of mindblowing.
So thats what I would recommend.
I backup all my computers and servers with borgmatic which makes it a bit easier to manage excluding directories and how many versions you'd like to keep.
If you need any help with setting it up, let me know.
I run photoshop in wine just fine ;)
tldr:
it's always elasticsearch but now more of it and smaller
Except for distros like Apartheid Linux ... maybe uncreate those.
Put them into an opensearch database. It is the open source fork of elasticsearch. It has an sql plugin so you can retrieve the raw data the usual way. And there is probably also an integeation/library for it if you use any major framework/language in the backend.
But on top of it you get a very performant full text search. This might come in handy for example when you remember a sentence from a story, or if you want to find all stories with a specific character name or word for whatever reason.
Yeah it sucks.
If I wanna shoot myself, let me shoot myself. Maybe I'm into that. Who are you to judge whats good for me?
I did that once. Went to a completely dysfunctional company. Project management was non existent. There was no planing, no defined goals. The project manager, that never before managed a project, literally told me "I think everybody know what has to be done" when I asked for a first assignment.
I though - well I'll just hang out there and get paid, but alas there was 2 hours of meetings, shouting, everybody blaming everybody else, non stop phone calls etc. every day. Home office got cancelled because "you developers aren't productive". If you do nothing (because nobody told you to do anything) you get shouted at, if you do what they tell you to do ("just make a website, it can't be that hard, we need to be at the top of the google search results" - "what should i put on the website?" - "we don't know, but make sure it's at the top") they look at the result and blame you because it isn't what they had in mind when they asked.
Wasn't free money, had to take a long break for mental health afterwards.
Years later, I still look up their project sometimes. The website is the same as when I left.
