Safari + sponsorblock to airplay YouTube videos to the TV without needing some third party app like smarttubenext on the TV or logging into YouTube premium.

No ads and skipping sponsors with just no extra steps and no need for any other apps is nice. Especially since I don't even have the YouTube app installed.

I would miss the ability to multitask by split screening apps or doing floating app with my S23U. I would miss my spen which I use to take quick notes, and then can slot back into the phone which even the iPad Pros can't do. I would miss having a non Safari browser like Firefox and its addons. I would miss the easy access to foss apps like NewPipe, and apps not allowed on the Apple store like tachiyomi, emulators, and torrent clients. I would miss that syncthing type apps don't properly work for syncing across different platforms. I would miss the launcher, since I'm not a fan of Apple launcher and app library aesthetics. I would miss the Android folder system's easy access to everything in there compared to the iPhone. I would miss one hand operation+ method of navigating over Apple gestures.

I would like the long term updates of the iPhone though. Using the iPad though made me never want to get an iPhone.

Yeah, people are aware now so can make decisions on their own and decide their own risk tolerance.

One thing I find funny though is how people think I don't care if X country has my info it's my home country Y I'm more worried about. But, their country Y is probably hacking country X and retrieving all their info from there with possibly less red flags to get through. So it really comes down to what people choose to share and use than a certain countries publicized spying policies.

Try one hand operation + in good lock. Currently my favorite gesture system, since I don't even have to reach down and can activate multiple actions from the side.

It would help if there was unique animations each time, but it's the same exact movement that makes it get tiresome.

Samsung handles it well since it lets you hide the cut out on a per app basis, and doesn't push down the status bar either. Just blacks it out while keeping all the time and notifications still there.

So watching 21:9 with that option makes it so the notch doesn't become part of the video.

But, Oneplus 7 pro handled it the best with the pop up camera.

Yeah, Samsung one I think only relies on Samsung, so one that works off all Android would make it an easy option. Otherwise, air tag depending on the region seems like it has the most coverage.

There's nothing preventing encryption being done to a SD card so there's no reason the SD card could encrypt files on it so it's only readable through the phone or after putting in the password. Like how Samsung lets you export encrypted a back up of your apps with appdata to a SD card connected through USB C with their Smart Switch app, which is needed now since they don't back up 3rd party apps to the cloud anymore. https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-cloud-third-party-app-data/

Also, most people want SD card so they can just offload pictures, videos, and music as opposed to running apps off it. The cons don't seem like cons for me.

It's not people are forced to use a SD card so this stuff seems more like devil's advocate.

I would actually if it weren't for updates, but what I do on the tablet is so undemanding compared to phones that I made the concession for long term updates. Since the iPad for me is just a glorified comic reader most of the time. Didn't end up being the productivity laptop replacement I thought it would be other than writing on PDFs and drawing

I miss Tachiyomi and would actually get much more out of it than paperback. And vlc on ipad has struggled with playing some encoded x265 files compared to Android, and video options that are Foss so don't have ads or IAP are so lacking that that expensive paid options like Infuse is pushed.

And the file system is too restrictive. The nice specs seem to be held back so much by the OS. It is more filling the role a Kindle does for ebooks but for comics instead when it comes to the iPad for me. I wish it ran MacOS when you hooked it up to an external monitor or connected a keyboard to it. Although being able to use it as an external monitor with MacOS is really cool.

But, I am thinking of getting a Android tablet next time if there is one that has good custom rom community or at least official lineage OS support, since I would prefer the Android app alternatives for stuff like comics and video players and also being able to easily use emulators and play like DS games with the stylus would be fun.

Yeah I came across one sansa that has Bluetooth. It's a shame these dumb device mp3 players got phased out. I found myself wanting one for when I don't want to carry around a phone for something more compact while still delivering good quality sound.

HDR support didn't work when I tried it for madvr or games. Not sure if that area has changed.
