The only possible word that comes to mind is “anticlockwise” used in (some parts of?) the UK instead of “counterclockwise”… but that doesn’t exactly match “diagonally”. Is it the word though?

I have fond memories of it too. Granted, those memories involved being utterly confused as to how to proceed, but also being utterly astonished by the graphics. I distinctly remember it being basically photorealistic to my 9 year old self— going back to play it with an emulator was a bit of a shock (and letdown) compared to my memories of it.

I did beat it as an adult. As a kid I may lot have been able to get anywhere, but it was magical all the same.

I feel like meta is slowly succeeding at getting people to call them meta when not referring directly to the Facebook website specifically. Like for their idiotic VR initiative and whatnot. Slowly. And it helps that it’s in the context on non-Facebook-the-website activities.

Twitter has no such advantage.

It’s a city sim, not a FPS… I think I agree when he says in the video that 30 fps is all you really need. Lower than that does hurt, but higher doesn’t really help that much.

That said, yes, the game needs more optimizing. I’m not really worried that it won’t be though. I do feel like the current release date is kinda early access-esq though.

I have little to no doubt that it will be updated. As far as I’m concerned though, this release is basically “early access”. It’s definitely not done yet.

Not that I necessarily disapprove of it being released before done! Modders need to get their hands on it as soon as they can so that can start doing their magic, and I have zero doubts that it will be completed soon enough. It’s a little rough around the edges now and needs some cleanup, but it’ll get there, and the new foundations and systems are worth it in my estimation. If for nothing else than parking being in the core simulation, given how huge an impact parking has on IRL cities…

If you want to make them think a little differently, try a blackjack-esq dc. Set a RANGE they have to hit with their collective skill checks (that add together). If they roll below the range, or above it, either way the control doesn’t quite work— maybe a different consequence for too low or too high. Let them also choose whether to increase the sum or decrease it with their skill check, in the case of overshooting.

And make a variety of skills they can use to control the godling, so that they can strategically try to use the most appropriate bonus to get them where they need. Maybe using certain skills requires doing something on the battlefield too, like standing in a certain spot relative to the godling or some such. Or perhaps doing that sort of tactical movement can let you manipulate the roll or take 10.

That’ll get them thinking different! But if you make it fiddly like this you’ll need to make the payoff for successful control powerful enough to make it worth it.

The word paradox has too many meanings, alas. I like jan Misali’s explanation of the word: there are five definitions of paradox. https://youtu.be/ppX7Qjbe6BM?si=Lnkao0t0qFLi9tjj

I played the crap out of the original release. Does + offer anything more than higher resolution graphics?

It’s not difficult if you have a multi-thousand dollar freeze drying machine. It is difficult if you have less money than that and try to build your own…

Cargo pants and a white undershirt. It’s hot out.

The people being classified already existed. You just see them now. The fact that this elicits racism and sexism says a lot more about you than it does them.
