Man, I barely graduated from high school because I saw the entire thing as busy work.

My grade in any class was dependant on how much the tests were weighed versus any class or homework. Sleeping or reading through class was my usual.

Now that I'm older I see the value in building the discipline needed to do that sort of busy work because if I don't my house falls apart and such, so there's that.

I wish it didn't take me so long to learn it though.

I kinda would have been, but I had a dictionary at home so didn't use the library one much.

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent

  • Salvor Hardin

I can't think of a better way to explain the difference between the books and the show then that quote.

Can you imagine Salvor of the show ever saying that?

S2 was ordered before all of S1 even aired.

I'm excited for it for the same reasons.

I don't have skill in art or coding.

But AI platforms have let me produce things that work for my personal needs that would be beyond my abilities before starting the project.

To what end are we bringing it up though?

Is there a point, or is the only point to degrade the actor in some way?

I feel this is one of those situations where I can say 'You aren't wrong, but you're an asshole' if you are bringing it up without a greater reason.

I don't think the dude would be ragged on for taking advantage of the opportunity afforded to him.

Apparently I've been listening to the new Gunship album too much, said I was in the top 1% of Gunship listeners.

It's called qualified immunity.

The idea is that if a police officer accidentally violates someone's rights while trying to do their job and wasn't aware they are not at fault.

It's not a law but the result of a court case. Many of us want a law passed to remove it.

All nations are built and maintained by violence, either directly or by threat of it.

It's a core component of sovereignty. To be able to call your government sovereign you must have the capacity to resist both external and internal actors from being able to overthrow you.

You must also be willing and able to use violence against those under your rule who disobey your laws (i.e, arresting a murderer).

Why is this "Where do they go? 😞 " question relevant only now and only one way?

Because someone specifically told me that every Israeli should just leave Israel?

Are you not following the converstation here?

So there is already a thing with Windows 11 where you can, as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription, upgrade your Windows 11 machine from Pro to Enterprise.

The idea of having the base OS be a subscription is really just a stones throw away.

... but the Pro -> Ent activation process is really a PITA and often randomly PC's will revert back to Pro after they've been ugpraded, so I guess we'll have fun with that.

There is no oxymoron.

Smoking is harming oneself.

Selling is harming another.

They are not equivalent.
