I don't know that I'd call them idealistic. They were landed nobles who didn't want to pay the increased taxes levied on them. Which in turn were to pay for the war their government had fought on their behalf to protect them from the native people whose land they had stolen. By exterminating those native people.
I actually have a SATA cable and power plug discreetly tucked in a spot in my PC case and have just taken the side off and plugged in a drive on occasion. It's normal purpose is troubleshooting other hard drives, but it works for that too
It's an incredibly hard read. It's legitimately a graduate school philosophy class reading level. I would love to take that theoretical class and read along/discuss with a group but it's hard to go through alone.
When every industry and consumer goods producer is a monopoly, market competition no longer exists so prices don't really effect demand. Especially for inelastic goods like gas or food.

I agree with the sentiment but there is a bit more to the argument than property values. You can simultaneously hold the positions of, "I think society should do more to solve this problem," and, "I would really prefer to not have needles in my front yard."
It's a difficult problem to solve, and we don't dedicate the resources or effort to solving it that are required.
