Every time I’m playing an online video game and I hear the word “Chinese” there is basically a 100% chance it will be followed up with “hacker.”

Which is interesting because I swear it’s just projection from racist assholes. I don’t run into cheaters very often, or at least I don’t think I do, but the last two people I am certain were cheating were white supremacists. I fought a Ken player in SF6 that in a team called “Whites only” and the other guy was in Tarkov who was walling and just shouting the worst shit imaginable at anyone who came within earshot.

What I’m trying to say is, how the fuck does gta 6 have better opsec than most leftist organizations.

They probably don’t, it’s just the government doesn’t have any reasons to put plants at Rockstar.

Paradox has and will continue to do this

A friend of mine claims he “only plays good video games” and I asked him what that means and he told me “mostly I don’t play video games with zombies” and I think he’s onto something

and there's no nuance around it?

The fact that the whole ordeal was a giant fucking tragedy caused by American imperialism is funny for that reason, not because those people are dead.

That is the nuanced take.

I dunno maybe because they have more money behind them than god. Maybe because the have a history of making large video games.

Like I know Bethesda kinda sucks but they have the resources to not.

I don’t understand why people keep using a history of sucking as like a shield from criticism.

Outer Wilds comes to mind although it tells its story in a very different manner.

Trying to play games with a large narrative component designed for mass appeal after playing Disco Elysium makes me wanna take a Dremel to my skull so I can carefully remove my brain and throw it into traffic.

I wanna make a popular video game with the most robust character creation anyone has ever seen but it will not let you make a standard white guy.

Yeah federation was certainly effective for giving the site the old subreddit feel, but I liked what Hexbear became. There was no other place like it and I say that as someone who isn’t particularly vulnerable. I can’t imagine what it’s like for people who are.

This might sound self serving, but as a cissie having a space where vulnerable people could talk openly (particularly trans people in Hexbears case) was useful in my own radicalization. Every day I was reading perspectives from people whose lives I would never experience, and it was honest and everyone was nice.

But I kinda feel like we threw that out the window and let the jackals in and now we have to re-litigate the whole thing again. I don’t wanna. Especially considering if I do want to argue with people who aren’t worth the lifetime stroke count from the keys on my keyboard I could just go to literally any other social media platform on the internet.

I’ve been on hexbear since the day it started (obviously not from this account) and I’m about to just give it up completely.

The bad memes alone were almost enough to make the feed unusable, but even when I’m using local only mode I have to read the worst takes imaginable from people off site.

I left Reddit when we got the boot from there and realized it was good for me, but this just feels like going back and now I can completely understand why it sucked.
