Someone who even it broke couldn't fix it because it's an Apple.

Instead they'll become curiosities leading down rabbit holes to understand why and how they happened.

Can confirm. Meddled with it a little bit a while ago trying to productively use it to host Lutris installer files. It's an absolute mess; slow, unreliable, without proper documentation and a really bad default node application.

Also it managed to get our server temporarily banned by the hosting provider since the "sane default settings" includes the node doing a whole sweep of your local subnet on all NICs respectively, knocking at multiple ports of every device it can find. Because the expected environment of a node apparently is your home network… a default setting that caused problems for many people for many years by now.

A project like in this post might benefit from looking at more modern/mature reimplementations of IPFS' concept, like Veilid (which would also offer additional features as well).

Remember dudes, if you smash your Blackbird onto the deck of an aircraft carrier it becomes a bad ass burning cross and you can move the ship with the power of pure spite.*

To my knowledge there are interesting quantum-mechanical effects at play as well though. There's a lot of esoterical nonsense around that of course, however first discoveries pointing into this direction are quite promising.

I always remember a quote from Alan Watts talking about this topic: "You are the universe experiencing itself". The idea of consciousness being an emerging property of the universe itself makes most sense to me, and the non-deterministic properties of quantum mechanics open this possibility.

Definitely more inspiring to think about it this way than just as a lump of fat.

Invest in Iron Lungs. You'll need them once the first generation of kids ain't getting that polio vaccine.

Then that lawsuit will be paid with tax money, and the new benches will be of hostile design with extra spikes below them just to make sure the homeless won't come. Also they might "feel pressured" to employ a "security" guard that regularly kicks out the homeless in increasingly cruel fashion. For safety reasons, of course.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, only that the current decision makers won't stop to be ass hats. They need their asses kicked.

I think you underestimate how much storage power is currently being build and how many different technologies are available. In Germany alone there currently are 61 projects planed and in the approval phase boasting a combined 180 Gigawatts of potential power until 2030. Those of them that are meant to be build at old nuclear power plants (the grid connection is already available there) are expected to deliver 25% of the necessary storage capacity. In addition all electric vehicles that are assumed to be on the road until 2030 add another potential 100GW of power.

Of course these numbers are theoretical as not every EV will be connected to a bidirectional charger and surely some projects will fail or delay, however given the massive development in this sector and new, innovative tech (not just batteries but f.e. a concrete ball placed 800m below sea level, expected to store energy extremely well at 5.8ct / kilowatt) there's very much reason for optimism here.

It's also a funny sidenote that France, a country with a strong nuclear strategy, frequently buys power from Germany because it's so much cheaper.

I don't get you US americans with your political stuff, your terminology seems to be all over the place. Today democrats are libertarian, next day it's the republicans. This is literally authoritarianism at play by definition, their liberties are taken away. And where does the evil left come from, that state seems to be run by Republicans, i.e. extreme rightwing.

I mean, ever since your election the whole world knows your politics is broken beyond repair, but this is still bloody confusing to read.

Celebrating selfishness and deception is just that, no matter how warped the perception of a theoretical majority of people might be. Perpetuating such nonsense will only cause more harm in the future. It's not a sign of good behaviour or even mental health to be well adapted to a broken system.

So yeah, not "smart". Disgusting.

Do you vote separately for your president in the US?

In Germany we vote for Parliament, whoever receives a majority of votes then gets the governmental mandate and their candidate becomes chancellor. Many people thought there never would be any other chancellor than from either the "social" democrats (SPD) or "christian" conservatives (CDU/CSU, also just called "Union"), until 2021 when the Green Party got so good in surveys we suddenly had three official candidates.

I do know about the "electorial college" nonsense, just asking what exactly the votes are aimed to be for, government or specifically the president.
