I did not have this on my radar, sadly. On the one hand, I somewhat was there via livestream which make me happy but on the other hand I am so sad that I missed it.

My EU bank never ever used my phone number to verify anything. They only used it to contact me on some occasions. 2FA is done through their app.

I started using it on my NAS and also on root. Then I switched my personal machine to ZFS on root. I manually created both setups (somehow). This is the worst part in my opinion. The best decision, though, was to ditch grub in favor of zfsbootmenu. Skips all the brittle steps with grub and its boot partition. Now I just have zfsbootmenu directly loaded by UEFI from the EFI partition. Everything important is directly on ZFS, including... well, everything. Can also use snapshots but I have not needed that yet.

Weirdly, years ago when I last played it, I had to use proton because of performance problems. I have it in the backlog for for quite some time again already and hope I can use it natively with all its glory in 4k now.

THAT is very shitty. My problem is that after using it for a bit apps start freezing for a split second all the time. Most notable is firefox. The frequency and duration of them increase steadily. Then opening a new program might freeze the system fully (or wait minutes/hours until it unfreezes). It has something to do with memory allocation "according to" dmesg.

Jumping from the default kernel with zfs to the xanmod kernel using a manually compiled version of zfs. I don't rememeber a whole lot but it was quite... interesting. Next would be a suddenly vanished efi partition and my f* mainboard refusing to boot ZBM.

Bonus: my currently still unfixed problem is a very weird freezing/stuttering of the whole OS and the only (useless) "lead" I have is workqueue: fill_page_cache_func hogged CPU for >10000us 4 times, consider switching to WQ_UNBOUND

Sorry, AB is short for "Auric Basin". Or more specifically, its map meta event.

Edit: To elaborate there are some more map meta event short names:

spoiler

  • AB: Aurric Basin
  • DS: Dragon Storm
  • THP: Thunderhead Peaks (Keep/North; Oil/South)
  • DBS: Death Branded Shatterer

I heard sPvP is toxic but I have not played that. For WvW it depends on the server/commander/guild. There are certainly commander being very aggressive about getting the absolute maximum out of it but it also ranges to "just follow me so at least have a larger group".

And yeah, PvE is pretty chill. I find it fascinating time and time again at AB that it is possible to speed through it without any communication.

Well shit, I didn't know that. It has been a long time since I touched Android dev and also never needed that knowledge.

One app I rarely use, uses some event that is triggered when it goes to the background or whatever. As soon as the app leaves the foreground, it shows the "saved" toast. It works both with the home button for the "desktop" and also when using the "open apps" switch UI (whatever that is called). Of course that is a step before the force close and is more complex to to handle for you since the editor window is not closed.

Thank you for putting up with my shit xD

Only thing I can remember right now reading about is that is is "not finished" and "not production ready".

I mean there is some truth in that because when I tried switching to it some months ago, it crashed in the first 5 minutes of using it. Haven't triey it since. Others report using it all the time without any issues.

OT but beware that nova launcher was sold to some "ad" company. I switched to neo launcher since.

My problem is that it does not work on multiple devices at the same time, so I have personally given up on it. Maybe it has changed, did not check for a long time.
