Yeah, I agree the genre has come down to a basic recipe.

There are some exceptions:

• Sword Art Online, technically an issekai, but only because they are trapped in the other world.
• The Devil is a Part-Timer, reverse issekai where something foreign and god-like comes to the real world and becomes mortal

How does someone get into the industry nowadays?

Would it benefit the communities, or the public? Why should they be hidden?

As someone who is in their own niche communities (not on Lemmy) I suggest communities could have 3 modes: Standard, NSFW, and NSFL. If a community is marked NSFW or nsfl, it can never go back to Standard. If a community is marked NSFL, it can never be NSFW or Standard, or maybe if it does, all content from it is deleted.

Users could then set their preferences to standard, NSFW, or NSFL. If they choose NSFL, they see everything.

A reddit instance is conceivable, but the magic of the federation is that no one instance has control. Reddit has control of every subreddit, and they'd lose that control joining the federation. Likewise, there's no financial gain from having an instance.
