Well yeah, but also a bit more than that - even after growing up, does society itself have some impact? Even if someone was raised really well, I feel like they could change over time depending on what society tells them is appropriate.

Oh that does look like it! I'll make sure to avoid eating ice lollies at the same time.

Yeah I think you're right. Not enough notice for a 2024 release.

[-] OmegaMouse@pawb.social 2 points 6 months ago

Ohh interesting! Wonder if it's planned to release in 2025? Excited to find out more.

Yes I think you're right about Pokémon. But Nintendo does often keep things under wraps until the last minute. Maybe we'll hear something about Metroid a few months prior to the release of the new console? It would make sense to keep a heavy hitter like that up their sleeve.

I'm sure it's not a bad game - it just felt very generic from the demo. Definitely worth trying the demo on Steam if you can.

I played a demo of Build and it was ehhhhh. I don't think it would work well on Switch, in terms of the UI and stuff.

Heist on the other hand felt like a perfect Switch game. Can't wait!

It runs perfectly! You can use the joy cons to do brush strokes, but I've been sticking to tracing out shapes using a joystick which works fine.

Being able to play it portably is nice - it's quite a long game.

I'm not familiar with this work, but it seems like a fascinating topic and still as relevant today as it was back then. Thanks for the summary/review.

I guess something like this (data stored on glass plates 'Project Silica') would store the data safely for a much longer period. What I'm not entirely clear on is whether it would still be possible to read that data in the far future - it seems to rely on some kind of machine learning to decode it.

Ah gotcha! Yeah it's pretty neat seeing the ways in which the instances intermingle. Some communities stay pretty niche and used only by local users with the same interests, whereas others are melting pots of every instance. I guess it's a bit like a society with little towns and bigger cities.

Yes that's a fair point - I did find myself overleveled quite a lot, and it was sometimes frustrating having to balance class options between characters (personally I was trying to level classes with the characters that got the most benefit from that particular class, which became a juggling act). I find that all the Xenoblade games struggle with overleveling (like you say, 1 remake had the option to level down). My initial thought would be to tie side content to your current level (i.e. the quests level up with you) so it's always the correct level of difficulty, but that makes levelling up pretty pointless. Instead maybe level caps until you reach certain parts of the game? Hopefully it's something future games can improve upon.
