Yea it's not strictly a "good" movie. But yes it's fun as hell to watch. Definitely up there near the top of my favorites in the disaster movie genre.

Nah you can't see them, they are cloaked.

I think it's entirely possible that they chose to compare to a 3 year old phone not because they are only targeting those upgrades to people with 3 years old phones, but because it sounds a lot more impressive that way instead of just the smaller incremental improvements over last years model.

It should also be noted that Apple admitted at one point to purposefully slowing down older iPhones too, which very clearly was done to get people to upgrade. If that's not planned obsolescence I don't know what is.

You talk about them as if they are some benevolent entity, when that's just very much not the case.

Bummer. But given that streaming services in general don't seem to be doing that great and that paramount was just actively seeking to be bought or merged or whatever, it really doesn't surprise me that they aren't going out of their way right now to make new and likely expensive trek shows beyond what they are already working on.

I'm fine paying, but $20 to remove ads is a very big ask for a mobile app, when it was maybe $3 or $5 for the old reddit app. Especially so when it seems he comes and goes and updates to a very in development app have stopped for months at a time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not making any demands, I agree with everything you say, but the ad removal option is quite a lot especially when there are many free lemmy apps too.

So much drama over star trek memes. Some people really need to feel like they are the king of their made up little internet castle. In case I wasn't clear, I'm not saying that about you.

I used to moderate a decently sized subreddit. I genuinely wanted to make the community a better place. But there was no escaping the drama. People take this internet shit way too seriously sometimes.

Also if you are an alcoholic and trying to get sober, this stuff is so so so not worth taking a drink over. Though I realize that was likely more a joke than anything.

This is my biggest issue with lemmy. The userbase is not particularly one I want to interact with or even read their comments most of the time. And it seems there is very little room for nuance or any real differing opinions. And worse, it seems most here are convinced they are correct (though that could be everywhere). There are a few niche communities devoid of that, but they are so small that there is either very little content or the same handful of people are doing all the posting.

Love the idea of lemmy as an alternative to reddit. In practice, it's absolutely not a place I want to fully spend my time.

And you don't see that on lemmy? It's everywhere. Well maybe less so actual arguments and more just 100% anti Israel.

And they are all still complaining about this

So basically... Fix every other nearly impossible to fix problem first before even deciding to do anything about the actual guns, if anything at all?

And to be clear, by impossible to fix, I mean politically, not that these problems are actually unsolvable.

Isn't the fact that it tries to stop big business from making even more money enough for them not to support it? Or just the mere fact that Democrats were the ones proposing it?

Yea that was probably the only reason I would have upgraded from my 7 pro, and if it's not there, looks like the 8 series is a pass from me.

The fact that there is no mention of it anywhere when even the latest iPhones mentioned it seems like enough evidence, but I even contacted Google pixel support and they said the same thing, doesn't have it.
