I use Organic Maps regularly and I'd love to get rid of Google Maps eventually, but they don't really fulfill the same purpose to me. It's awesome for hiking (which Google Maps is useless for) but meh for Navigation and almost useless for finding information about shops, restaurants etc in an area.
Reading the full statement, it sounds to me like there was more to it than just the game's development coming to an end. It sounds like it might have been a very sudden decision by the publisher, with possible negative consequences for the development team.
In principle I agree though, there is no issue with a game just being finished at some point, especially a single player one. But I also don't mind continued updates and/or DLC.
Depends on difficulty settings. As long as it isn't hardcore mode, less scared as I can just respawn when I die.
Man, the state of the games industry is just sad to see. Also makes me question my career working in an adjacent field, despite my job being safe for now...
The high prices at least should be obvious, a product using fairly sourced components will always be more expensive.
Yes, the Human relationship to animals can often be pretty paradoxical. People may love their dog and maybe even look at it as almost an equal, but don't mind animals with even higher intelligence (pigs) being kept in horrible conditions so they can eat them. Pug owners may think their pet is so cute, but are willing to ignore all the human-caused suffering that pugs have to go through to look like that. Ultimately animals are always treated as less than human, even if people may delude themselves otherwise.
They have kept their game relevant for so long that they are actually getting brand new customers just trough birthrates.
Can confirm. My nephew is 9, younger than Terraria itself, and has recently become obsessed with the game.
Sounded great at first, but 15 monthly hours is pretty terrible TBH. Not even an hour a day?
That's part of it for sure, but anecdotally I also find that Gen Z people often have quite a shallow, even naive understanding of the technology they use every day. Probably due to modern interaction design valuing simplicity above everything else.
Didn't get it either at first but I think they are referring to their total watchtime being about a year, not having started anime a year ago.
Steam refunds are easy and convenient. I wouldn't personally bother doing that just to post a "protest review" either, but it's definitely possible to do without losing any money.
