Planet Zoo.

As a kid who grew up playing Zoo Tycoon, I was STOKED for a new Zoo management game. I even built a whole new computer to run it.

Turns out it's more of a 3-D modeling program than a management/simulation game. And I don't have the time or patience to figure it out.

"Derry Girls" and "Pen15" are both hilarious and perfectly capture the awkwardness of being a teenage girl. I actually had to ask my husband to leave the room during Pen15, because it felt like he was watching footage of my most embarrassing moments.

Edit to add: if you have HBO, we've also really been enjoying "The Righteous Gemstones". It's about a family that runs a megachurch. "White Lotus", which is about rich people on vacation, isn't really what I would call a lightheaded comedy... but it's definitely funny! Especially the first season.

One. I am a dumb dumb and don't quite understand the point of being on multiple instances. Also so many of them are weirdly... ideological??

Honestly I just order from Target. I know the products are legit, and I can usually do same day pickup.

(Lately I've preferred to shop in person. The stereotype is true -- once you become a mom, getting a Starbies and walking around Target becomes your self-care.)

Huh. I call Lemmy users "Lemmers". Is "Lemmies" the agreed term?

HBO = my brain thinks Game of Thrones, Sopranos, The Last of Us, Band of Brothers, Chernobyl. Literally decades and decades of quality premium content.

MAX = porn. My brain immediately associates the name with porn. Idk why.

Tbh good reads has always been a little garbage. The tracking features were nice, but I don't think I ever found a decent recommendation through Goodreads.

I'm at a point in my life where I almost exclusively read cheesy historical romance. Romance.io has been a great resource for finding books and tracking my tbr/completed books. You can also search by trope, which is great when you are in the mood for something specific. I wonder if other genres have similar sites.

For non-romance reading, I hate to say it but booktube and booktok have been the best resources. There was a trend for a while where people ranked classic books, and I was able to find some great booktubers whose taste aligns nearly perfectly with my own. I know someone who ranks Franny and Zooey at S tier and The Scarlet Letter at F tier is going to have some great recs for me.

Tell myself to quit being such a piece of shit and to get it together.

The results are variable.

A little dull tbh. I still pop over to reddit when I'm on my desktop to visit my favorite subreddits (especially my bumper group). Hopefully Lemmy gets better, but I think step one is the community needs to stop being so goddamn meta and focus on building active communities.

This! Lemmy feels like such a sausage party right now.

My ultimate guilty pleasure -- gossip and snark communities.
