2011 is repeating again.

As a result, Bahrainis began staging protests across the country for around four days.

This was until neighboring Saudi Arabia began deploying the Unified Military Command [formerly called the Peninsula Shield Forces] to crack down upon the brewing uprising. The details concerning potential further protests have since been scarce. The deployment of the Unified Military Command was viewed as a historic development, not seen since the 2011 Bahraini Revolution, when the Saudi-led forces violently suppressed the revolt.

Jordan arrests three Communist Party members without charge

The Jordanian Communist Party (JCP) announced on Monday, March 9, that two of its leaders, Dr. Omar Awad and Osama Zain Aldin, were arrested the day before by Jordanian authorities.

The party noted that the arrests were carried out “in a crude manner and through arbitrary procedures, without any legal justification or grounds.”

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has spoken at the UN Security Council and warned that today’s strikes by the US and Israel, as well as Iran’s retaliation, pose a “grave threat to international peace and security”.

He said, “military action carries the risk of igniting a chain of events that no one can control in the most volatile region in the world”.

WHY GUTERRES? WHY IS IT THE MOST VOLATILE REGION IN THE WORLD?
