I dunno how you went about it, but I've given some pointers to friends who weren't having any luck with online dating, and a lot of them were being too passive about it, basing their potential match choices mainly off of "vibes" and sending mostly generic opening messages - the quantity-over-quality approach.

While I was on the site, I spent hours a day going through every single person's profile - looking it over to really get as best of an understanding of the person as I could - and if I took interest in a few points, I'd send a message personalized to them based on what I saw on their profile. I also made sure that my own profile was well fleshed out, filling every field with well thought out responses, and putting up pictures of me hanging out with friends and doing activities like cooking and going to an amusement park.

Some, though not all, of the people who followed my advice eventually found success through dating sites. If you haven't tried all this, I'd suggest giving it a shot. If you have, sorry for being presumptuous, and I hope that you find who you're looking for eventually.

Reject bad behavior when you see it. That's all you can do. In the same way that we need to draw attention to the holocaust over and over even though we know it likely won't stop it, we need to point out bad behavior over and over again even if it doesn't stop it. But don't point out bad behavior when there's none to be seen - that just weakens your argument.

The biggest questions is "Why does this cookie say 'here's a cake?'"

My wife and I usually plan big vacations about a year in advance so that we can follow flight prices and whatnot to get a good deal. We also book a few days at a cabin for our anniversary every year, so we just book the next year's reservation while we're there, since reservations can fill up even several months in advance.

Only planning a week in advance seems stressful to me - we planned a last-minute (for us) road trip vacation earlier this month for the long 4th of July weekend, and it was tough to find cheap places to stay that weren't super grungy.

Nobody needs a friend so badly that they're justified in making friends with a genocidal maniac. I understand that Israel has been a long-term investment, but the amount of human suffering going on right now vastly outweighs any lamentations about sunk cost. What this country needs is a president willing to show that he cares about preventing suffering above all else. Doctors take an oath to both do good and do no harm - it's time for our presidents to do the same, and be held to it to the same degree.

Elon threw money at the problem and it worked, as it so often does. Conversely, the tactic failed in the Twitter scenario. That's his entire game plan for everything, a trait he shares with nearly every other person born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

I think the whole point is that the difference between belief and knowledge isn't about whether or not you're right, it's about whether or not your belief has been verified and proven to be true, so in OP's example, they would be right that the room looks like that, but that belief wouldn't have been verified due to the professor never seeing his actual room. Thus, a justified true belief, but not knowledge.

Looks like a mall I'd frequent a lot in Grand Forks, ND in college. It always looked run down, but it had really nice little shops in it. Basically a haven for local small businesses that couldn't afford their own building.

I don't like the feeling of lotion on hair, which means it's uncomfortable to use it on my limbs, backs of my hands and feet, chest, stomach, and bottom half of my face. I'm not flexible enough to get most of my back, so I'd really only be able to use it on the top half of my face, my sides, my neck, and the palms of my hands and feet. At that point I don't think it's worth it. I do love having a tube of Carmex in my pocket to prevent chapped lips, though!

I'm really looking forward to it. The only reason I don't enjoy souls games is because I hate their gloomy emo setting, so this looks right up my alley.

He was forced out of his swamp, and discovered that the world had so much more for him to enjoy. He still goes back to his swamp at the end of the day, but with the understanding that he can leave and find other joys whenever he wants, which he does in subsequent movies. Fiona is the main reason he changed so much, yes, but he fell in love before knowing she was also an ogre. Even if she had been human, the story would be the same.

It's basically the same as a guy living in a trashed apartment being forced by concerned friends to spend some time outside, and learning to live a more well-rounded life, while finding a partner with whom to share his type of lifestyle in the process.

I hope you're right, but I've seen a concerning amount of people say "It's only $X, so why not?" so many times that it's eating up a huge percentage of their monthly earnings.
