AirBnB used to be cheaper than a hotel. Then it got so easy to tack on fees and ridiculous requirements that you're basically paying more than a hotel to housekeep your own room. Mix in lots of shady hosts and most of the time I'd rather just stay at the Hilton for the same price.

It can still be useful as a novelty, like book a party house somewhere or as easily cheaper way to house an awful lot of people. But for the most part, I'll pass.

Okay so you saved $60 million by canceling the grant. Did anybody bother to consider that building the train would overall save taxpayers a good bit more than that? In the form of fuel, wasted time sitting in traffic, extra road maintenance, parking, etc?

This is disappointing for Rossman. I like his content a lot and he's on the right page, but I think he's big enough that he needs to start adopting some journalistic standards. For example, if he reads that some company is doing something stupid, at least bothered to call them and ask for a comment before he drags them through the mud on his channel.

There's already a huge amount of automation available for airplanes large and small. The current top of the line will allow the airplane to connect every phase of flight except for the takeoff, coming all the way down to landing on the runway. In your average airline flight, probably 80 to 95% of the flight is flown by computer. The pilots are managing the aircraft, talking to ATC, etc. So you could argue that that is already there.

If you mean the ability to conduct a trip without an operator, IE little girl jumps in the back of the car and says 'Tessie take me to school!' and the car drives her to school, that will absolutely happen in cars before airplanes. The simple reason is edge cases and emergencies. In a car, if something goes wrong, you simply pull over. Or, worst case scenario, just slow down and stop. It's not great but it's not terrible. If something goes wrong in an airplane, you need to keep operating the airplane for anywhere between 10 minutes and 4 hours including a landing. A lot of what pilots do in emergencies is figure out exactly how their airplane has been damaged and strategize around that. A lot of that is intuition, the rest is deduction based on understanding of how the airplane works. Since the computer can't see out the window or feel things like buffets and sound, a computer won't necessarily be as good at that. So the pilots aren't going anywhere.

They could fix it pretty easily but the host would hate it.

• Make the price that is displayed by default inclusive of all fees and charges, except taxes. So that stupid cleaning fee makes your property go down in the list.

-Make the listing page clearly indicate whether or not the guest is required to perform chores. Make the filter aware of certain chores and allow a guest to screen out listings that require those. IE, 'strip bed', 'do laundry', 'take out garbage', 'cleaning tasks', 'other', etc. and have a really easy button at the top 'filter out listings with chores'.

If I'm paying half the price of a hotel then I don't mind having to throw the sheets in the laundry. If I'm paying more than a hotel plus a cleaning fee, I want to be on vacation and act like it.

If it was just 10% of restaurants skimping a little, the effect would not be nearly enough to show up on quarterly financials. The fact that he addresses this at all, and the fact that it is big enough to show up on financials, shows that it is a significant company-wide issue. I also note the weasel word, over 10%. That could mean 100%. My guess is the vast majority if not all of their locations were skimping, because corporate told them to. And now suddenly they realize they lost customer good will, and a lot of people just stopped going. It probably shows up in focus groups, if enough people said I used to eat Chipotle but they started skipping on portions so I don't go there anymore, they realized they lost people. And an announcement like this is necessary because those customers aren't going back to the store and won't see the larger portion.

This is a mixing pump. It mixes ethanol into the fuel. Because the mixing happens before the part of the pump that measures how much is being dispensed, you need at least a few gallons to fully flush things out and get somewhere close to what you're actually buying.

Nobody is going to come arrest you if you buy 2 gallons of gas. But the gas you get me not be the mix you wanted.

Good. I have no desire for more war. However, China has made it clear they consider Taiwan to be part of their territory. Taiwan is an important country for the rest of the world as a great many of the world's computer chips are made there. This is a vital supply that the rest of the world does not want China to control. If Taiwan is defenseless, if China can conquer them easily and quickly, they are much more likely to do it. If Taiwan has sharp teeth, if conquering Taiwan would mean a bloody war, China is more likely to leave them alone. So if a few billion dollars worth of missiles helps keep Taiwan independent, I think it's money well spent.
