You might want to double check this, but as far as I remember both the Sovol SV06 and SV08 are open source. The SV06 sounds in line with your desired budget, IF I remember correctly the open source thing. And as others have said, Cura, Prusa slicer and Orca are open source and cross platform.

I can see him equally well in both roles, nice idea! I’d hope for a recurring/main cast Vulcan, personally.

Dogs pee on sacred trees, they are probably not welcome abroad starships.

All I can think is “Do you even lift, bro?” and chuckle.

So let me get this straight… The thing is trained on text harvested from the internet. Turns out that (Star Trek aside) if you ask politely it’s more likely to access the data leading to the answer? Anyone surprised by the fact that asking nicely, is more likely that the human on the other side of the connection will write the answer, that is then harvested for AI training?

AI generated stuff doesn’t have to be bad.

Master, I beg you to reconsider!

Had almost the same idea, was too lazy to do it…

I’ve been wondering about that too, after seeing this post I watched a 10+ minutes video and it was fine, but I’m not… on an average setup.

So for the moment I’m just going to suppose it’s not active for me yet. Thanks.
