Thought I'd share this i recently came across, while not strictly a game per se - its still on steam and might be a nice find for people into these sorts of productivity apps. Game is made by an original lofi artist called Blue Turtle, who makes some really good and relaxing lofi mixes.

Ithya: Magic Study is a cozy background app combined with productivity tools. Customize your room and relax with lofi or fantasy playlists in beautiful, hand-drawn environments. Perfect for a focused or creative session in a magical world.

Here's some features:

  • no ads
  • offline, no loading time
  • new music and art
  • included timer, task list
  • endless loop
  • can choose the weather to fit your mood
  • gamification (capture Elementals and personalize your room)

It will be released at the beginning of 2025!

I was in your exact same boat a year ago, and decided to try both solutions. I ended going with the streamlined one. As you said, you are already paying for the service and Proton Pass is imo a pleasantly nice password manager to use. It is a lot easier to create and delete aliases there than through Bitwarden/DDG, at least that was my experience. Proton pass is now my most used day to day app list and I'm very happy with it.

While all eggs in one basket isn't great from a security stand point, I am pretty happy with this solution. I do however keep 2fa in separate app, Ente Auth.

Plowing snownduring the winter.

Here where I live we get tons of snow. Waking up extra early during winter only to go out and lift 100shovels of snow is the least tempting thing in the mornings. Does make foe a good workout session though ๐Ÿ˜…

No not all Debrid services are under the same jurisdiction. The reason this has been a topic lately is because most of these services have been hoisted out of France specifically. And the French are extremely strict when it comes to copyright and DMCA, to the extent that they actively hunt down the individuals hosting such services through their social media. One fine example of this here. .

So essentially just need to stay away from countries hosting their services through France as it's more likely to get shut down.

Do as you wish, pay for what you want to pay for - its your money.

That being said; these services will have to comply with French law. Real-Debrid probably didn't have much choice to do what they did as they were hit with a formal notice from the French Federation of Film Distributors (FNEF). The french have been for a long while now been trying very hard to remove as many of these services as possible. First it was Hadopi agency, now merged with the Higher Audiovisual Council to form the more powerful regulator Arcom. Here's a SS from this article about their anti-piracy efforts in 2022.

Similar services that are hosted in France will have to comply the second they get a notice from Arcom. France is obviously way more committed to removing piracy I'd say its a good call to not pay into french services... Personally, I wont be paying for services hosted in France as I believe its only a matter of time before more are struck down.

[-] Sunny@slrpnk.net 13 points 5 days ago

I have crossed out All-Debrid too as that is also hosted in France and is bound to be hit by the same hammer as Real-Debrid was.

[-] Sunny@slrpnk.net 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Not sure myself, just went with one month of Premiumize to test that first. Will then try the rest too see which service suits me better.

Ah NVM... Debrid Link is also French.... https://debrid-link.com/legal

[-] Sunny@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 days ago

Not sure tbh. Guess it depends what you are downloading and if you are using their service directly and not through their API. They will not block and ban people downloading stuff from their banned lists and their API can no longer be used.

It's better to switch Debrid Service to support someone willing to host a better service imo.

[-] Sunny@slrpnk.net 17 points 5 days ago

In short: it's gone "full legal" mode. Blocking most used streaming sites and removed their API access. So it's literally unusable for folks sailing the high seas.

For those of us hit by the recent announcement here is a graph I found with some other services worth checking for your next voyages. I have crossed out All-Debrid too as that is also hosted in France and is bound to be hit by the same hammer as Real-Debrid was.

Feel free to share your alternative solutions in the comments below, but always do you research carefully!

The graph shows which Debrid services are supported by each addon for Stremio. Torbox seems to be a new popular and modern alternative. If anyone has any experience with any of the listed services then feel free to share your experiences in the comments.

Edit: Debrid-Link is also French!

Hi there folks!

I've used Linux for a good while now, but have no idea how to troubleshoot the current issues I'm having with my laptop at work. Let's begin.

The laptop at hand is a HP EliteBook 845 14inch Notebook G10. A standard work laptop, with Windows pre-installed from It. This PC is "new" in the sens that I just got it from IT.

Laptop specs:

  • CPU: AMD ryzen 5 7540U
  • GPU: Radeon 740M Graphics
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Kernel: 6.11.6-2-default

Other notable settings:

  • fast boot off
  • secure boot off
  • have encrypted the drive

FYI: These issues have been the same across multiple distros and DEs. I've tried, Bluefin, Aurora, Red Hat Workstation and now running OpenSuse Tumbleweed (KDE+Wayland).

The issues:

  1. The first noticeable issues were that the laptop fans are considerable louder when running Linux. I assume there is some preinstalled HP software to control this on windows, as they are completely silent on windows, but constantly noticeable on Linux.

  2. The second issue at hand is that the USB-C port doesn't seem to charge the laptop properly. The laptop randomly dies after being on for a while WITH THE CHARGER PLUGGED IN. Very odd. This happens with both normal charger and the office charger (which is also the connection to external screen).

  3. Waking up from sleep is a terrible experience. The pc makes everything super slow and laggy. Opening a single application can take up to multiple minutes. The PC has to be restarted for this to be fixed. This happens on both X11 and Wayland.

  4. Connection to external monitor also seems to be causing issues and slowing the system down. Especially after pc has been in sleep mode.

These are the main issues I've ran into in only a couple of days trying Linux on this laptop and I don't know what the causing issue is, or if the laptop simple isn't 'made' to run Linux(?).

Would highly appreciate any tips or troubleshooting tips for this. Would love to be able to run Linux on the work laptop!

Edit 1: Now trying Ubuntu, so far so good! Will keep post updated.

Edit 2: Ubuntu seems to do well with this hardware/laptop.

Hi there good folks! Trying to wrap my head around how this stack works. Previously I've been using NextDNS for this and it worked wonders. However, I've wanted to explore other options and have now gone with the Adguard+Unbound route on a RPI 4B.. This setup defo works, its blocking what I want blocked, but its created a new issue I've not had before. On my Graphene OS phone, as long as this setup is "active" (e.g. over Tailscale), all my notifications through various applications are getting delayed. Each notification come roughly 10 min late, if at all, or appear as soon as I open the corresponding app. I'm pretty sure this caused by either Adguard or Unbound but betting my money on Unbound - as I don't see any relevant DNS queries being blocked.

I am still a little unsure of what is causing this issue so if anyone would be able to enlighten me on how I could troubleshoot this issue I would be very grateful.

Hi there!

A bunch of us at work have been looking at getting Intune running on our Linux machines, this is needed to get Wi-Fi access at work. While there is a guide on getting this on Linux - the requirements are strictly limiting this to RedHat and Ubuntu and Gnome only. Has anyone here had any success with setting this up? Was it difficult?

I tried myself just once last week, but on Aurora (KDE), via a RHEL distrobox, and assumed it failed due to my main system not having gnome-keyring installed(?) as the terminal would spit out "gnome-keyring" a couple of times when launching Intune. Was gonna try with RHEL myself during this week, but wanted to hear here first if anyone has had any success with this at all before i attempt to get it running.

Appreciate any response on this :)

Hi there!

Using Insular to isolate the few work apps I have on my phone. However I'd like to not receive notifications from these apps outside the 9-5 hours. Anyone know how to do this?

Any tips appreciated ๐Ÿ‘

Could you please explain the need for so many permissions(35)?

Like why would a board game need access to:

  • Biometrics
  • Fingerprint
  • Receive Boot Completed??
