Absolutely gorgeous plant! Apparently Drosera anglica grows naturally a bit North of me, but hasn't been spotted in a few years. I'd love to find one in the wild.

Oh I bet that was pretty! There's definitely Indian paintbrush all around this fen, but not on it. When the time of year is right a bunch of fringed gentians pop up there and it's beautiful.

Hot Dad's serving up something fire. As a project that is Hot Dad, this song is unironically really good.

This was a test to see if my Pixel 7 Pro could handle storm photography. I'd say it did a pretty decent job. There were many failures, but I got a few decent ones.

My favorite local frog. These leopard frogs are so pretty and my favorite color is green.

An old photo from June 2024. One of the many frog types we have here. I'm not sure of the specific species.

Midwest USA.

This is an old photo from June 2024 and I never posted it here. I was riding my dirt bike and almost ran little dude over. This may be the most common snake in the US, but I rarely ever find them.

Carnivorous plants are truly alien.

[-] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Gorgeous! I love it!

[-] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

They're mostly located on the East coast and Northern Midwest US. They're all over Canada. Most states have some carnivorous plants though. The one I really want to find in the wild is Darlingtonia californica the cobra lilly. It's an absolutely gorgeous plant, but only found in Northern California and parts of Oregon.

Yup, that is its flower.

Here's a more complete picture of one

Sarracenia sp. are too cool. We have Sarracenia purpurea that grows wildly here. We're absolutely lousy with them.

This song is from BAND-MAID's 2025 EP "SCOOOOOP." My favorite from the EP, which is a collection of songs they wrote for anime. They've been a favorite band for me for the last few years. Just the perfect blend of aggression, melody, and a dash of pop for good measure. These ladies are the real deal.

I'd be lying if I said it's my favorite Pantera album, but goddamn if it ain't a groove metal moving punch in the dick. Dime and Vinnie are here. Phil's off doing Phil things. I'm worried for my Kirbys!

RIP Dimebag. It was 21 years on the 8th.

RIP Vinnie too.

I'm not a Hellyeah fan all that much, but I do love Mudvayne, Vinnie, and Hush.

BTBAM - Colors II (lemmy.world)

Oh what an album! I'm sure most fans of BTBAM would say Colors I is better, but I'm not most BTBAM fans. This is BTBAM at their most mature, experimental, and relevant. The sociological critique has never been more true. This album is bleak, dire, and angry, but also hopeful and optimistic. A top 20 album for me and a frisson machine.

BTBAM - Colors (lemmy.world)

Probably the most important album in the catalog. If you're a fan of metal and especially progressive music this is an essential listen. I can't emphasize enough how fantastic this album is, it's a masterpiece. I say all that and it's still not my favorite BTBAM album.

Yup, I was mostly a Nintendo kid growing up and loved my GBCs, GBAs, and DSs, but the PSP was the perfect handheld. Truly a magnificent piece of hardware. Its value proposition hasn't been beat until the Steam Deck. It hit at that perfect moment when technology and the Internet intersected into the mainstream and were affordable.

A fantastic gaming machine, but also functional for general computing, not to mention that it was a great media player. I remember browsing the Internet frequently, watching movies, using it as an mp3 player, emulating my favorite classic Nintendo games. The homebrew scene was insanely vibrant. I certainly don't miss the Memory Stick format though. I'm glad that died.

S tier hardware.

I've been on a nostalgia binge lately, playing many of the games I was lucky enough to play as a child and I somehow landed on Duke Nukem: Zero Hour.

I have memories of this game, but they're faded and not particularly fond. Honestly, it's a decent game. Nothing revolutionary like Duke 3D, but still a solid and mostly faithful entry in the series. I like the level design and time travel storyline. The controls are dated and laughable, but still serviceable. I have quite a soft spot for "edgy" '90s humor and there's quite a bit of that and humorous pop culture references.

An all time GOATed album. It's easily in my top 20 favorites. Fantastic album my favorite from Deftones. I have this on vinyl too.

BTBAM - Alaska (lemmy.world)

The 3rd studio album (2005) from Between the Buried and Me. Not my favorite BTBAM album, but still a certified banger and it certainly still holds up. "Selkies: The Endless Obsession," "Roboturner," and "Backwards Marathon" are my favorites from the album.
