I'd rather force safety requirements on all cars. Like limiting blind spots at the front and everywhere else, limiting speeds of vehicles above certain weights, increasing license requirements for vehicles that have higher safety impact etc.

But this just looks like a standard work truck. Maybe the back is full of tools? Maybe he’s going camping. Camping is dope.

Sure. Two issues though.

• Small trucks like they used to build a while ago would be better at pretty much all of those use cases than the monsters that get build today
• big trucks have become the default for people that never do any of those things

So as a result, there are way more way bigger vehicles on the road endangering all road users and wasting resources for no benefit besides lining the pockets of the manufacturers.

As much as I’d like to agree, those projects have very different goals and constraints.

I’d guess even if some other man made satellite is perfectly in line, those wouldn’t have even close to the necessary transmission power to reach voyager.

I haven’t see the discussion previous to this snapshot, however his channel definitely isn’t a „how to change x country“ type channel, strong towns might indeed be better for that. What his channel is doing is providing insight into a different way to do things, a push for people to questions the status quo.

But don’t be under the illusion you could change a place like the US or even other European countries like Germany to turn into the Netherlands, that won’t happen in a few decades.

So he isn’t totally wrong about that. Doesn’t mean his channel is worthless for us, just that it isn’t a howto fix this instruction.

Interesting purely mechanical design. Our first remote (that didn't have a cable connection) used sound as well, but it was battery powered and as a kid, I could hear at least some of those sounds. It had way more than just 4 buttons though, maybe the mechanical design hits a limit there at some point (or electronics just got cheaper).

Looks like a perfect space for every lazy person to push their shopping cart into.

A single individual? Sure, but that is a bad comparison. World wide food production is responsible for over a third of all carbon emissions. That isn't inconsequential.

It isn't really pro life, it is anti-choice.

I get that, but the vast majority of content creators seem to make their money with sponsorships or their own ads, so most of what google is doing is content distribution, not creation. Which makes the amount of money they want for that seem ridiculous when pretty much every other streaming service that produces high profile and expensive shows themselves is way cheaper.

This feels like your supermarket requiring entrance fees in addition to you having to pay for stuff you actually buy.

Except the impact of climate change isn’t at all like a car crash. In a car crash everything stays fine until it suddenly goes to shit. Which I think is one of the issues why people have such a hard time dealing with it.

Maybe we should think about it more like a sinking ship. We already got wet feet, which isn’t great but only the start and we really need to start shutting some bulk heads to keep the water from pouring in. And get some Wellies to deal with the water already in. But those won’t help if it keeps on rising.
