Yep.

Another one of my most popular tracks is an atonal hour-and-twenty-minutes of cubic spline curves, granular synthesis, and other assorted noises I programmed in Csound.

Treasurer of Australia sounds like a good job. Can I have that one?

One of my buddies is in his fifties. He's been an avid reader his entire life. He pronounces "chasm" with the ch of "chicken" no matter how much we correct him. I've known him long enough for that word to actually have shown up in conversation a not-insignificant number of times.

I smoked daily for about ten years. I got off the cigarettes and smoked e-cigs (no one called it vaping, then) for another year or two, then quit cold turkey without much issue and only the occasional minor relapse thanks to my significant other continuing the habit for a few years after I quit before she quit, too. That was about fifteen years ago, and I don't crave them at all anymore. The smell is actually a huge turn off for me, now. I can't believe I ever thought I was fooling anyone into not knowing I was a smoker. That shit seeps into everything.

I completely forgot about that show! (Provided this was a The Critic reference)

Hmm. Giving it away a bit here. He cringes well before it discharges.

Maybe the evidence is anecdotal, but I've lived in Korea for 20 years, and there's always a huge new, self-contained apartment complex going up nearby. If anything, they've ramped up production in that time. While older population centers are left to decline. Maybe not in Seoul which is shoulder-to-shoulder apartment complexes already, but the smaller cities are full of decaying apartment complexes since they put them up, then completely fail to maintain them as they know their market is full of people who will move into the next complex since "gotta have the latest and greatest" is a problem here.

I don't doubt it, but I've been a pretty regular user since 2009, and I've never had a game advertised to me on the front page that wasn't available in my region. In fact, there are games I want that I know aren't available on Steam here, and the only way to get to the Steam page for them is by using a proxy or VPN. I definitely can't buy them with my account. It seems pretty amateurish of Epic to advertise unavailable games and to even let me click "buy" before telling me I can't buy it. Maybe they've fixed that by now, but whatever. The paid exclusivity bullcrap showed me where their priorities lie.

Those first two are so true. I got around to Elden Ring recently, and I realized that losses I've taken and not sweated and how meticulously and carefully I approach each situation have been influenced by all the games that came before. I'm (relatively) kicking the crap out of it because I know how to play Souls games now because the series has been teaching me these exact things all along. I've offed quite a few bosses first try, and damn it feels good. It's such a great series for giving you a sense of power through perseverance and awareness, rather than just grinding up the XP to trivialize everything like most other RPGs. Miyazaki really did strike gold with the formula. I hope there are way more Souls games coming in the future.

Yeah, when boomers were getting into their thirties, the free-loving sixties were being replaced by the threat of AIDs and nuclear war. I guess I can get why those things might make people "conservative". Not that that word means what it meant then anymore.
