it’s crazy to me that for all the ai “advances” in the past few years nobody has thought to improve subtitling.

That's what OP say, I just responded with the reason why that wasn't being done. Aka money

Where do you think money for development of new shit comes from? From places where money is made, like TV, movies etc. YouTube doesn't really make more money because the ads are there.

And Twitter hahaha I can only laugh at that

[-] Vinstaal0@feddit.nl 1 points 2 months ago

No, but on the fields where there is money to be made for subtitles, like movies and tv shows.

Probably because a lot of countries either dub the content or it is already in their native laguage. You generally see a lot of subtitles on OpenSubtitles of countries like The Netherlands where that doesn't happen

Apple comes without Google apps and they aren't mandatory to install

The recommended rate for RAM to TB of storage is one, so for every 1TB of data they recommend you need to have 1GB of ram. Not sure how relevant it actually is since I have a lot more ram than storage on the server, but just something to note.

Virtualising ZFS on top of ZFS is generally not supported and can cause issues. I run TrueNas baremetal and run a lot of docker services in TrueNas itself, you can also run VM's on TrueNas. I know some people virtualise TrueNas in Proxmox, but the only use I see is to host something in a VM on proxmos that you cannot really run inside a TrueNas VM. The thing with TrueNas is that everything is either stored in the datasets or in the config file. The latter can be backupped pretty easily.

I have both a TrueNas server and a Proxmox box with OPnsense running, Proxmox is very nice I just don't see a reason to run TrueNas inside Proxmox.

Pretty sure they are fiscally located in Ireland like a lot of big companies for tax reason and for EU VAT reasons.

The surrounding gay people I know have way more of an issue with Muslims than with any other form of religion.

Stop uisng creditcards (if you even still use them) and stop buying from mega corps, that will have a way bigger impact than you going to work. Heck generally staff working from home is cheaper if the production is the same.

Also, you can walk bike or take the public transport to work unless you live in a corrupted hellscape.

My Brother printer worked way better on W11 then W10, but I disliked W10 more than I dislike W11 at least at the start

A chipped bank card aka what the rest of us use with modern standards like 2FA etc

[-] Vinstaal0@feddit.nl 1 points 2 months ago

They extra costs of creditcards is why I use a modern bankcard, but the US is really behind on that so for some things I need to use my CC
