Nature is healing.

Not that instance, but Lemmy is missing a lot of moderation and federation tools. Right now you only have sledgehammers to deal with tiny nails, in regards to tooling.

Activitypub signatures that each user and group sends out their messages with.

Try "the Odin project", which has an amazingly active community.

But before you try too much, once you've learned to set up any programming tools, just use them to have fun. Find a way in which you can use programming in relation to your hobbies.

With JavaScript you can manipulate any webpage you see or create your own interactive webapp. Even if it's just a few ugly buttons and text fields, you could make an app that calculates good builds for a videogame you like, for example.

If you want to interact with a windows operating system you can't go wrong with C# using visual studio. This will literally allow you to manipulate files, folders or automate anything you want from the operating system.

Try to find something that is fun and just enjoy yourself with small apps before you try to go too fast.

If course.

If you click on the house in the top right and type in "lemmy.world" you'll make the links open up in your home instance so you can subscribe.

Defederation requests need to be on a cool down timer Benoit they're considered unless there's an immediate threat. Otherwise it opens up the doors to using the equivalent of a nuke in impulsive decisions or pressure. Your instance admin might at this very moment be thinking about this even if they're not vocal about it.

Threads won't federate any time soon and even when they do, I suspect they'll operate in whitelist mode. All my instances allow NSFW content, which threads doesn't.

But in general, just because admins aren't defederating yet does not mean that they'll just wait and see.

This made me chuckle more than it should.

That sucks imho

Mastodon has something called relays which are servers that share all posts from one instance to another. It'll eventually come to Lemmy as well.

Yes, that's why I said it's a tragedy regardless. The best outcome is a swift rescue and jail for the CEO.

Nope. I use it on a weekly basis to pay for stuff on the internet. It's got its uses and the concept is sound. What you're talking about is the hype train that happens ever so often.
